Awww Man, And I Was So Confident....

Sat Feb 16, 2008 2:31 pm

I was very pleased with my edited versions and now airliners.net tells me they are shit! Arrrrrggghhh §$%&!%&$§!!

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20080216_YU-BNA_landing_FLO_anet.jpg
Qualtiy, soft

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20080215_YR-ASB_landing_FLO_anet.jpg
Color, oversharpened

Oversharpened

Level (personal message that it needs cw rotation)

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20080215_D-AKNO_landing_FLO_anet_up.jpg
Contrast, dark, common

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20080215_73-1677_landing_FLO_anet_up_.jpg
Oversharpened

It's one of these periods again where I don't seem to get any picture right, 7 photos are remaining in the queue to be rejected. I guess I'll wait till they get cleared and I'm down below 40%... Man that's frustrating!!!  Sad

Hi Florian,

not the best day for you...

I like all of them but in some cases I have to agree with the screener who rejected them.

1) looks ok to me
2) the titles are slightly oversharpened and there is a red colour cast
3) the cheatline is slightly oversharpened are there also some jaggies visible close to the front gear door
4) I'm not an expert in leveling  Wink
5) looks ok to me. Might be too dark but I like the overall lighting.
6) there are some very jagged areas under the wing

I have to say, they all look eminently salvageable. Good shots all round - your editing would benefit from a little more judiciousness.

My personal judgments:

1) has a long blown-out highlight along the fuselage - almost a cert. for rejection unless you're very lucky!
2) is oversharpened (look for those jaggies between wing and flap!) and suffers from a red cast
3) is an excellent image - use the layer method and erase jaggies and sharpening artefacts around areas of fine detail, such as the text 'Belgian Defence' and also around the wheels
4) level it on the runway, and will probably get accepted
5) dark and very oversharpened on the nosewheel particularly
6) oversharpened, possibly dark. like Stefan said, look at those jaggies in the flap edges, erase them!

Overall some very fine shots in that bunch. However if they look the same as those in the queue, it might be a good idea to pull any you have a doubt about and double-check your editing. My advice: find a good workflow and using the layer sharpening method erase any sharpening artefacts carefully first!

Best of luck,

Toni  Smile

Stefan and Toni,
thanks for your posts!

I reworked the USAF, is it better?

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b...677_landing_FLO_anet_rework_up.jpg

Somehow it became a bit more yellow (I played a bit with the colors) than my first edit, does it still look natural or is it too much?

THanks,
Florian

EDIT: Fresh out of Photoshop as well:

Better?

Hi Florian
A bit hard to get a shot in when it gets rejected for common as is with your USAF 747 shot.
I would work on another shot and keep the common ones on the side to save some time.
All lovely shots thou all the best

Better?

Very much so. This should definitely make the grade.

You're very welcome to post some more - I'd love to see them!

Cheers,

Hello Alan and Toni,
thanks for your opinons.

It was the Bearbus that got rejected for common, not the 747  Wink

Here are some more, I had another go at the USAF as I didn't like my second rework at all and I edited another pic of D-AIHC:

D-AIHC

I don't like the crop in the new version as much as I liked the old crop - I personally would simply use the same editing as in your previous shot, making sure it's better centered, without more space aft than fore. That said, I liked the original image a lot - you could re-edit that one, only modifying the level of it?  Smile

Best of luck,

Toni
