They both appear to be slightly over-sharpened as I can see some jaggies on the leading edges (more so in the Avro). Also, the Avro looks to be a little low in the frame. Good luck! Big grin

Quoting DABZF (Reply 2):

CSA: Contrast is high. Small jaggies in places.
OO-DJL: Contrast is also high. The plane is a little low in frame. Colour is slightly off. And a dust spot in sky. Small jaggies in places.

Look quite soft on my screen. Which sort of worries me, since that means that the ones I have uploaded are way too sharp, assuming you're on your screening computer.

Therefore, here are just a few of mine. Comments on sharpness, please?

Not what I wanted to hear, haha. If a screener happens to look at mine on their Dell, I'd love some comments. Most of my shots are this sharp, and I don't want 12/12 rejected for sharpness, which has always been my achilles heel, though I usually make them too soft!

I LOVE it!!! I can't comment on sharpness (see above disastrous examples) but the motive, contrast, color, and quality look very good!

Hi,
need some help with this rejected photo (reasons: level and qualitiy) Any chance to improve the quality and what's the point I have to pay attention? Presently I have no idea what's the reason for (bad) quality.

Several minor issues, such as, slightly harsh contrast, a little too bright, and oversaturated colour, lead to this quality rejection.

Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks. Have pulled all since I don't want to waste a screener's time and don't want to reduce my ratio. Will re-edit and re-upload and will ask here again on Sunday night when I'm back home.

Very glad to see these threads working so well, and screeners more than willing to help out!

I'm unsure about this shot's crop; it just looks strange to me. Input? BTW - I leveled to the Renny Hotel in the background.

I think the crop is ok, but the shot is definitely not level. Did you use the roof of the hotel, or the vertical right edge? You should ALWAYS use verticals when leveling, never horizontals. This is because a vertical is vertical no matter what, but unless you are looking at a building DEAD ON, the roof will not be vertical due to the perspective our eyes use when looking at distances.

This shot definitely needs some CCW rotation.

Crop should be okay. But it's not level. CCW rotation needed. And some specks in sky need to be removed.

#3, not well centered, distant (should crop it tighter).

Grainy, not level, soft, too much JPG compression, and maybe motiv (due to the reflections near the lower left corner).

Thank you for the info. Whilst looking closer I agree with the soft observation for all, and have gone back and sharpened. I also agree entirely for #3.

with regards to #1 however, I'm not sure about how it is not well centred. I assume you are referring to the cable, as I think the helicopter looks better for having the entire rotors visible, and cropped around the rotor tips. I attempted to give it the cable tip the same clearance down and to the left to the edge of the frame, as otherwise it looked ugly. Is this what you referred to? Also, when I re-upload the image to the que, is this the type of thing that I should put as a note to the screener?
