Contrast And Dark Rejection, Help Please

Mon Aug 11, 2008 3:02 pm

Hi all! I had this one rejected for contrast and dark. Do you think there is any way in which this picture can be improved? I really like it and would love having it in the DB... I tried adjusting the levels in PS but I couldn't make it look acceptable.

Thanks a lot for the help, as always  Smile

Hola !
I think dark blue colour from a/c don't help and then the picture is dark. In this angle the light was not very good... I think you can not improve a lot the contrast in this picture nor the darkness. You can try to remove shadows (3-5%) with photoshop but not sure the picture remains aceptable.

Anyway a nice and very sharp shot with a "different" angle.

Suerte if you try again !

Heya Juan!

As I sometimes do in these forums, I ran your pic thru a quick wash in PS. If you don't mind spending some time tweaking the contrast, the shadow/highlight tool and very selective dodge/burn worked well for me....very nice underbelly detail!

Juan.

I don't think your picture is in need of some shadow highlights. My advise is you will have to adjust histogram properly with PS' levels tool. I've tried a go with it, hope you don't mind. It's quality reduced just for storage purposes, but you'll see what I mean.
Big version: Width: 1600 Height: 1082 File size: 163kb

You have a big gap on the original histogram on the right -white- side and the left -black- slider is not showing a pure black on the picture. I suggest you to adjust levels for every RGB channel instead of an overall histogram correction, you'll get rid of some blue cast as well.

Nice picture, BTW!!
