This was rejected for Quality and Soft. I can sharpen a bit for the soft, but what is up with the quality rejection? It's not grainy, is the jet exhaust a problem? It's not affecting the main subject of the image, and I've seen plenty of others on here with exhaust visible.

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...s/big/20081220_N351WC_JLC_KDUA.jpg

Really, these quality rejections are about to have me pulling my hair out.

I honestly haven't got a clue - maybe they just don't think it works as a picture and just don't like it.  Sad If that's the case - then it's a throw away picture.  Sad

Hi, feedback please. I've been getting nothing but soft rejections lately after having a bout of oversharpened rejections.

These were rejected for 'soft' can't quite figure out where on the AA shot.

These are just a few of the recent soft rejections

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20081221_DSC_0340_10506.jpg
since this is a dusk shot I would think there should be some soft lighting but thought the aircraft was sharp.

This was previously rejected for Dark, which I corrected and resubmitted. Now a BLURRY rejection.

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r.../big/20081223_N761AF_JLC_m18_b.jpg

What, besides rotorblades is blurry in this picture. And on the point of the rotors, why, or is that a problem?

Hello, today I had a photo rejected for quality, soft, and dark.

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20081225_n651jb.jpg

Quality I believe shouldn't be an issue since this was a RAW image taken at ISO 80 with extended exposure time with a 14.7MP camera. Same with soft since the camera and aircraft were still, I can see all of the details crystal clear. Also I checked the night box and I don't see why it would be rejected for dark.

Any advice for improving this or was the rejection in error? Should I try to appeal?

I had many pictures rejected for quality in the past but since then I got a new camera and I got one photo in the database.

Plainplane,

Nice photo. I love how well you can see the cockpit.

As for the rejections, I honestly don't know. It looks like a perfectly acceptable picture to me. I certainly don't get the QUALITY or the DARK rejections. It might need a small touch of sharpening, but certainly not much.

Then again, that's just me. My current acceptance rate is a just one step shy of horrendous, so you should probably take everything I say with a grain of salt.

On a side note (and one perhaps best discussed in another thread), I'm beginning to question the effectiveness of this thread. And with that, I'm off to start another.

Good luck with the photo. Don't give up on that one.

I am not good at editing at all.  ashamed  In fact the photo I have in the database was edited by a good friend.

I originally thought I would get a motif rejection for the jetway being in the picture but I am confident that this one would make it somehow.  weightlifter

Hello!
This one has been rejected over color. I know it has a strong blue cast (and also needs sharpening, and maybe other things that you may suggest) but I can't find the right color balance for this one. The sample here is raw, I only cropped it.

Can anyone help me with this one?
Thanks in advance!

I just had 6 rejections... that's always tough, but I did notice each one had "grainy," which frankly baffles me. Can anyone point out where the excess grain is in this pic, which I felt was the best of the batch?

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...jections/big/20081229_IMG_8300.jpg

All the other ones have a similar background and are Southwest a/c, so the one I posted is pretty much applicable to all the other rejects. What gives? Where's the grain?

Thank you all,
Alex

Two rejections that I've got questions about here.

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20081229_396QSC680.jpg

First, I got a centered rejection. I assume that I should move the aircraft slightly up in the frame. Would that be what needs done?

https://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20081229_N608FX-1_resized.jpg

Second, I got a dark rejection. I'm not quite sure what I can do to get the shot lighter. I've already color balanced, and brought the image to color level. What can I do?

Thanks

I played with the contrast a bit and got a bit of a lighter shot on the Lear. Work with it some and repost here or the prescreening thread.

Love the angle on that shot.

This one was rejected for color and contrast. I recently recalibrated my monitor, so I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it.

Nope, it looks off to me as well, rejection is correct. The plane looks off. I think with that sun there's not much you can do, unless you shot it in RAW.

This image received a "color" rejection:

"There is a problem with the colours in these photo(s). This may be due to
one of two reasons: either there is a strong colour cast that makes the
photo(s) look too red/blue/yellow etc., or you seem to be using a low
colour depth in your photos."

Hello All.

I had the following photo rejected for being oversharpened (click on photo to see it at full size, otherwise it will look wrong). That rejection was confirmed at appeal.

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 683 File size: 354kb

I didn't receive any personal message, and am struggling myself to see any oversharpening that warrants a rejection. I would be grateful for any help on that.

I (almost) give up!

This was rejected for level a few days ago:
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/7639/img1452j5005jl5.jpg

So correct it using the vertical lines in the middle of the picture since its a 10mm shot. I used the window frames above the aircrafts "spine". So I corrected it and it got rejected again.
https://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...ename=20081231_IMG_1452-4J5005.jpg

The screener added a note (thanks by the way!) it needs some more counter clock rotation, but if I rotate it more CCW it will end up like the first one. Should I appeal (again Big grin ) or fix it (even though I will be too similar to the first) ?

In this case the screener would be right. If you have taken this shot with a 10mm lens then you cannot rely on the verticals as they will be distorted. In my opinion this shots needed about 3.3CCW rotation.

You must also understand that if this plane was jacked up so the the landing gear could be retracted and to show all the other moving gear, then the likely hood is that plane was leveled very accurately. I know this as when we used to bring in the 747's on a C check they would be leveled and I would have no doubt that this was too. Therefore you need to focus on the plane itself and ensure that this is level in the picture, ignor the building!

This is my take on it, hope this helps

The jacks under the aircraft should be vertical (aircraft horizontal), thus indeed some CCW rotation needed.

Level and Grainy rejection.

I am currently only able to view on a laptop which does not show up the grain too well, so can't comment on that.

Could do with some help with getting the pic levelled though.

Fresh from the reject pile. Reject Reason: Dark. If I lighten it up the highlights on the F-16 washout some of the detail of the panels. How do I work around this to persevere the detail but lighten it up to be accepted?

For me . . . . and this is just my opinion, I don't like the tail being cut off, and that's what would make me feel you got the motive rejection, could be wrong.

Fergul sun

Hey Fergul,
thanks for your input!  Smile
That might be possible. But that's the sole reason? Seriously I can't get it. I mean there are people who might like and who might don't like it. What could I improve?

Mhh..but thanks again Fergul.

Happy New Year 2 All !!!  Cool

Greetings,
Marcel
