What Is A Fisheye Lens?

i waswondering what is a fisheyee lens and how much does one a decent one that is compatiable with nikon D40 cost.

It is an ultra wide lens, sometimes taking in 180 degree field of view. Basically a special effect lens...the kind you'll go nuts with when you first buy it...then one day you'll realize your not using it so much anymore as personally I tire easily of fisheye shots...they grossly distort the architecture of the airfcraft too much especially in interiors...however on exteriors you can obtain super crazy shots...Nikon has a range from about $600-$2500. Look up interiors by Sam Chui, thats all he uses...watch out with flash...you must better distribute the light more...j

Fisheye lenses are fun to use....I got 2. They are very handy for interior shots, especially cockpits.

You need to get really really close to whatever you want to take a picture of. Otherwise it is going to end in a distant rejection. I've got two Nikkor 10.5 shots in the DB.

And another thing to talk about. The Nikkor 10.5 is AF but NOT AF-S which would be required to use the Autofocus on your D40.
