Many Congratulations - A Century For Wilco737

Sun Dec 28, 2008 11:23 am

My congratulations to my friend and A.net stalwart Wilco737, who has just had his 100th image accepted to the database.

I know from personal experience the significant effort Phil puts in to his images, and how thrilled he is when acceptances come, so I am sure this milestone will be very pleasing to him. He is also one of the crew members prepared to spend time on the Forums offering help whenever he can, which is worthy of much appreciation from members.

Many congratulations to you. Here is my favourite image from the portfolio so far:

Phil, congrats on your achievement!
I too remember a couple of years ago, when you got frustrated with pretty much every rejection  Smile

Glad to see you've gotten the hang of it now!

Plus, I love shots showing all the rubber in the touchdown zone. I always look for skid marks on the very edge of the runway and imagine what might have caused such landings.

Phil is also really good at finding new and interesting angles, like these:

Guess you are a better pilot than you are a photographer.....just imagine your aborted take off ratio would equal your rejection ratio at a.net. Would make you wonder....!

I'd love to see more inflight shots from you! I am amazed that even though you have the access the "stunning" flight deck shots are kind of rare!

Keep 'em coming.

Well, they are pretty difficult and as you said, I don't seem to be a good photographer, so most of my cockpit shots get rejected for various reasons. That's why there are only a few online.

I keep trying, but looks like I need a new lense (10-20mm) or so for cockpit shots. The 17mm I have now are just too much. but I will keep trying.

I remember the CPT of that LH 343 had a 100-400 L IS and the F/O took a couple of shots.
The wide lens is certainly a plus and can create some nice effects. 17mm, are you referring to the standard kit lens?

This is indeed a special way to see it. I am happy about every accepted picture!! But I am sure we all have the "cool but unworthy" shots on our HDD which we like to see in the database, but they are just not a.net standard or motiv.

I took these pictures with Canon's "kit-lens" 18-55 on my 300D... Well, over the years I improved my equipment but I think you know what I mean.

Yes, looks like it is me then. I tried to upload many pictures from the flight deck, but you can see how many made it into the database. Many rejections for various reasons. So I basically stopped uploading cockpit shots for now.

Nice shots you have there, Mario.

NO!!! Please don't stop uploading cockpit shots! Work on them. Improve your skills. The cockpit is such a nice place to take pictures. And I'm sure from time to time it will be easier for you to get them accepted. Almost everbody here at a.net will appreciate your support with cockpit shots...

Haven't uploaded them for some time now. Too many rejections for all reasons there are out there. The MD11 cockpit is a little tricky for that.
It is a nice place to take shots for sure, but only the one in the database were good enough - not only motiv wise, I mean in general. I concentrate on other pictures at the moment, to get better in editing and getting above 38% acceptance ratio. Maybe in a couple of months/ weeks I will take some new pictures from the flight deck and maybe I'll upload them.
