In Memory Of Roland Nussbaumer

Thu Jan 15, 2009 8:50 pm

Hello everybody,

I have just received the information that fellow planespotter and airliners.net member Roland Nussbaumer from Switzerland died in a car accident on January 10th on his way home from a spotting day in Salzburg.

I never met him personally but we had email contact a few times. I will remember him as a friendly and helpful person.

My thoughts are with his wife and his two children. I wish them all the best for the future and I hope they will learn to live with Roland.

Very bad news !
Ironic : car accident on his way back from a day spottting....
I have had some e-mail contact with him about some airports he had visited.

Very sad news, we were in contact just recently as he was visiting the UAE.
Must also be terrible for the many other spotters that were at SZG the same day.
Condolences to his family...

Even though I didn't know the guy he was still part of our community and for that it's a sad loss. Truly a sad thing to read about. Hopefully his SZG stuff will go on in time....

Very sorry to hear this. I never knew Roland, but have seen his photos here on Airliners.net. I found his images of corporate jets in the snow of Switzerland particularly attractive.

My god, sad news!!
Terrible feeling for me, as I was spotting at MUC on the same day also using my car to get there.

Condolences to his family! Roland, your photos will be sorely missed.

Oh my god, that is really sad news!

The same day I spend my time at INN to take some pictures and the sky was overall blue this day around the alps!

I never met him personally but my thoughts are with his family and friends and may he rest in peace!

Bye bye Roland

My deepest condolences for the loss. I have seen many of his pictures on here and I believe him to be one of the best photogs on the site. Such a shame to lose such a great talent.

R.I.P.

Just an observation, as I don't know the actual circumstances of that accident... Don't know about others, but in my case driving back home from a spotting session can be somewhat of an anticlimax. After all the excitement is gone, I feel sluggish and sleepy, and usually it is a long drive home. Driving becomes a bit of a challenge.

Be careful behind the wheel, guys.

Wow...

I am very shocked. He worked at the airport so he always got the best access to any plane and got a lot of specials in his viewfinder from angles that us fence spotters could only dream of! Sad loss for the community (especially Flightforum.ch)

RIP.

I also read the news. Even though I didn't know him personally, it is always sad to see one leave us. Like already mentioned, I liked his photos of the business jets in the snow in Switzerland. My condolences go out to Roland's wife, children, family members and all his friends.

R.I.P.
