A380 "multiple" Shot

Fri Feb 13, 2009 9:39 am

I've had a look through the database and it seems that a shot including more than one operating A380 is yet to be registered.

I would love to see a shot with all 3 operators. Is this simply not possible due to scheduling? I have definitely seen the SQ and QF A380's in close proximity in SYD.

It should be possible to get the SQ and QF together at LHR but I expect it's a matter of access and visibility. The EK arrives around the time the others are leaving, late morning..

How many airports have got 3 A380-ready gates at the moment?

I have managed to get the EK and QF together at LHR, we have been trying to get all three together in the same shot for a while now but the scheduling and aircraft locations hasnt let it happen as yet.

It's very tough to manage in Sydney - the planes tend to move at different times, and the weather is really bad at the moment. Too hot, too much heat-haze, or otherwise too dark and rainy. I haven't taken any photos for many weeks.

Early in the morning when EK or SQ is landing could be the only time: and only with the right wind - a Southerly. This would be with a QF A380 at the gate and the other one landing. The photo mightn't be of very good quality however. By the time the EK A380 is moved from the terminal, the SQ A380 is being/has already moved to the hard stands for the day. Because the frequencies of QF and EK are either varied or less frequent (respectively), you'd have to pick the right day and have luck on your side when capturing the image.

Try DXB - there's a line of A388s and a 77L in amongst them which is completely dwarfed. Mind you, they're only EK and you're probably wanting something with different airlines and full on rather than at the terminal.

I have pics of a pair of QF A380's in LAX (A and C). I'll upload a sample later today from my laptop.

And here are the two I shot in LAX (VH-OQC and VH-OQA) - not exactly a.net material, there was too much ramp lice in the way, and conditions were less than perfect:

For some reason it's not letting me display them here, so there's the links!
