Famous Pics On Airliners....

Sat May 02, 2009 3:53 am

A.net is fortunate to have some of the best in the business (if i can call i that) host their work here, several photos taken by Joe Pries, Sam Chui, Steve Morris, Mark Garfinkel, Fyodor, Paul Paulsen (just to name a few) are outright iconic.

One of the better ways to look-up great photos is by going on the
Airliners.net Photographers Page & Sort the listing by Average Views per photo and you can find your way from there  bigthumbsup

Strangely, of the few famous photos i remember most seem to have a CX aircraft in it  Confused

Anyone knows what Joe Pries is doing these days?
Just as many other pro's around here, he's very down to earth with tons of experience.

Joe spends most of his time concentrating on his own website:

http://auctiontransportation.com/

I owe a lot to Joe - he gave me some priceless advice many years ago - and much of what I have accomplished is because of him.

He has a wife, 2 adorable kids & a huge real estate biz (http://rampsideproperties.com/index.html) - the guy stays busy.

From what I've heard he's living the real life now instead of shooting airplane pictures

He's still one of the best on a.net

Great list of names guys, and if I may, below photo has been discussed a few times several years ago as it's a great shot.

This is my first post here in several years, but I had to because I'm honored to be mentioned with some incredibly talented names from the past on here. I don't upload like I used too, but I still do when I find the time (the bug), like latley...

This site, the former owner Johan and my my ex-coworkers on the screening crew (especially Gary, Royal, Tim and AirNikon) were all great people to deal with over the years, I made alot of friendships and deals thru anet and as a result I'v remained a staunch supporter of theirs and fully dedicated to uploading here...

Like Royal... Joe Pries also offered me alot of great adivice when I first met him along with Mike McLaughlin back in 1997/98. The both of them influenced me over the years with their perfectionist approach to setting up the shot! Over the years the three of us have always pushed each other to bring out our best. To this day they both remain close dear friends of mine... also Don "Uncle Don" Boyd... you have not lived life yet until you sit down with the man for some food, beers and amazing conversation. His memory of old stories is sharp as a tack! Don's an amazing photog with some incredible old slides in his collection, which unfortunely we will probably never see here due to the strict upload standards...

I also have to throw some kudos out to Royal and Tim, who's work over the years at times have both left me in awe... Tim has an incredible eye for angles and Royal ALWAYS nails the new tubes nicely fresh out of the Boeing builders box in Seattle.

Now... the infamous AirNikon who's name wasn't mentioned... Mickey was the very first person I met on-line (AOL 1996) who turned me on to uploading images on the web. Back in the day Mickey ran the aviation photo forums on AOL... we developed a great close on-line friendship over the years, he's the one who talked me into buying Nikon gear back then. I finally pryed him out of his shell for a couple beers one year in CA! The one and only time we partied. Of course... he passed away to young a few years ago, he's sorley missed and never forgotten...

What's up 'los? That "Jumbo" video you sent me the other day was hilarious Big grin

AirNikon was my mentor when I became a screener. I have something special saved up as a tribute to him, it will be my 2,000 picture accepted here, which should happen later this year.

What's up your Royalness! That "Jumbo" video is some rare footage... LOL

AirNikon was also my mentor when I came on the screener crew back then... he was a nonstop 24/7 screening machine. I was the one who screened and instant added AirNikon's last uploaded image (#9,998).

He was a great guy... funny as hell. can't wait to see what you have in store for your 2,000th.
