Can I Save This At All?

Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:27 am

Hello,

I recently took this pic at DXB, but I mistakenly set the exposure to -0.7. There also seems to be a green colour cast on it. Is there any way I can correct this? I didn't realize the exposure reduction as shots usually look fine on my camera display. Since I'm pretty much a novice at editing, I decided to post it here first.

Thank you!

Depends if it is shot in RAW.

Looks like the White Balance setting was way off.

Can be fixed in RAW, but not otherwise.

Using auto levels, setting the white point using a bright area near a window on the left (above the first bush) and using curves I get this.....

Unfortunately I can't fix it with RAW. Oly720man, thanks for your effort. I'll see where I can take it from this point.

To improve it? Yes. To save it? No. It's too soft and very grainy. Sorry:  Sad

For your personal collection you can improve about as well as indicated by JeffSFO. For anet, no chance.

Just to update this thread, Dennis Klemmer(Klemmi85) helped me out with an edit. I did a bit more and seem to have come up with this......

Is there any way I can make the colours come out stronger without risking a colour cast?

Left side of the image (with the windows) looks a bit awkward to me...

I think the last edit has been over-processed. It looks too bright and as Sdbelgium says, awkward. I would also question the motive for here too. I like taking photos of terminal buildings and departure lounges and seeing the ones taken by others as it gives you an idea of what to expect if you travel to an airport you've never been to. This one doesn't really show you anything other that some of the local decor and leaves me wondering what's in the background.

That was always lingering on my mind. One for the personal collection then.

Thank you all!
