Boxing Day was my birthday. Since I absolutely love spotting, but don't do it often, my parents suggested it as a sort of birthday gift. This is my first kind of "spotting report" (similar to a Trip Report, doing one in February), so go easy on me. I've got some pretty good pictures, many sort of crappy ones, and a not-bad video. Thanks for looking anyways. Let's begin:
Part One: In Terminal
We first explored the airport grounds to find a good outdoor spotting place, and then we went in to the terminal for a bit of lunch and some spotting.
Now, these are not great pictures (of the airplanes), as they went through two layers of glass and my camera had difficulty adjusting to the lighting conditions.
We entered the terminal starving, so me, my father and brother went our separate ways for lunch. I chose Tim Hortons.
"Destinations Food Court" at YYC
's mezzanine level, landside (skip, hop and a jump from Concourse A security)
The finest dining establishment in the history of the planet, Tim Horton's.
Airliners.net opened up, LiveATC running in the background, a decent view out the window. Fantastic.
Time to start some plane spotting:
N325NB, a Northwest plane in Delta colours off to MSP
A couple of U.S. airline tails here.
C-FXCD, an AC
A330, probably off to LHR
, as well as a Capital Cargo International B727.
That's about it for my bad terminal pictures.
Part Two: Down McTavish Way
There's a great little spot at the end of McTavish Way that gives a very nice view of 16/34 and 10/25.
I feel so naughty. :P
737-800 off to IAH
Air ambulance (King Air)
We saw this land, and do a very quick taxi to the Esso Avitat building and south hangar where an ambulance was waiting.
a WestJet 737-700 on final
A Bombardier Challenger 605 taxiing to the south hangar.
And now, a video: C-FXCD, an AC
A320 taking off, and a QK
CRJ-705 taking off. http://www.flickr.com/photos/2engines4longhaul/4234664456/
Well, thanks for looking! I'm sorry my first spotting pictures weren't very good, but it was a lot of fun for me, and they will get better. I am thinking of doing some spotting tomorrow, so that should be fun, and if I get any half decent photos, I will post them.
