Dana, I don't think you or anyone at A.net have anything to apologize over. The photo's gone, it's done with. I just want to point out (again) that for a full year uploading here I wasn't aware there was a
PC vote on A.net. If a feature is incorporated in the upload process that reminds photogs to vote, for example on the final page after an upload is completed, I'm sure you'll get broader voter participation. Big phat button... "VOTE for your favorite photo!!!!" The reason I mention this is because the upload process is the only time where participating photogs are guaranteed to be logged onto the site. Don't know whether its a browser bug or what, but I noticed quite frequently I'm not logged onto the site even after I've clicked the "Save this Setting" option in the browser a trillion times, it simply doesn't retain the setting, and when I happen to go through the
DB and find a photo I'd vote for I realize I'm not logged in, have to log in, go back and locate the photo again and vote. Not sure if that's particular to my browsers or A.net or what. Just saying.
I also think the PC feature would enjoy a broader participation if photos that had received PC recognition had some kind of banner "PHOTOGRAPHER'S CHOICE WINNER" on their individual page and in their DB listing to identify them as such. Yes, there's _one_ link in the PC icon on the front page that has arranged all the PC photos, but on a website that depends on linking, I think that's rather underwhelming. To me its just a part of adverting the PC feature at all and these are layout issues, but I realize A.net does things its way and there's institutional resistance to change.
Cheers!
