MAD Spotting

Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:04 am

Hi All,

I'm considering spotting trip to MAD in January. How is spotting from outside? I've been there once few years ago but only I was shooting from Star Alliance lounge near Spanair gates.
I will rent a car so mobility wont be a problem. How is police with spotters? Any problems?
Also, are there any 'official' spots for pictures like they have at Barcelona?

Thanks,

There're no official spots but police is usually nice and they're used to spotters around the fence. If you stay in private grounds, like the cargo terminal area, you might get some airport private security guys annoying you but in my experience this is unusual unless you start touching the fence which triggers an alarm for them.

You don't really need a car as you can just walk to the mound spot from the 'Barajas' metro station, in January light is good from noon. Feel free to PM if you need any advice.

Same here (drop me a mail via my photos), if you need directions, etc. A car is useful for the 33 arrival spots as not all traffic passes the Barajas mound.
