Double Rejection. What Is Wrong With This Picture?

Sun Mar 29, 2015 2:52 pm

Hi all,

Following picture was rejected twice. First only for low contrast and a dustspot. I took the contrast level a bit up and removed the dustspot. Than they reject for bad quality, overexposed, soft.
Why first only for contrast and then for so much more. I don't know it anymore..Also they say that i should done cloning in the grass, wich is not the case!
Why is there a severe quality loss when uploading to A.net
Help wanted please.

Marc

It was also rejected for the cloning in the grass as a result of your appeal. You denied it but had apparently deleted the original file (as happens all the time) when asked for it by another Headscreener

So now you get the chance for your peers to decide.

Looking at the A320, the image quality is OK, (I would use it, but would not try, for example to sell it).

Personally, I would not be too concerned if the grass was cloned.

Others may have a different take.

Nice colour scheme.

I just don't see the point of cloning. It's all right by the rules to have crap in the foreground if it doesn't take up too much of the frame, so why bother cloning it and risking a rejection or a ban?

I don't have a very good eye for cloning, so I really can't tell with this image, although the grass does look a bit unnaturally patterned. I'd be willing to accept the headscreeners' verdict though, so I would say reupload minus the cloning and be happy when it's added to the DB.

Cheers

Quality of the aircraft looks borderline. Not great.

Grass is cloned. Why not just admit it? I'll never understand going to great lengths to defend obviously cloned images.

Grass was cloned, it is visible just over a a.net bar in the middle of a frame. Except that looks good to me.

But it's against the site rules.

Grass is cloned.

Indeed, it looks pretty clear.

Looks like some cloning in the lower middle screen and others to me

Who the hell deletes original images... did you burn your negatives after you made a print as well???

What can be so horrible in the grass that justify (to the photographer at least, since a.net dont accept it anyway) a cloning?

It happens all the time, just to clean up some space at the hard drive.

Hello

Nicely composed image.

A tad CCW maybe, ditch the cloning (we all know there is a fence there at Brussels). I think it could be saved.

Best regards

Easy to find what was cloned out:

As for why clone it out, well, I have no idea.

Looking at the initial image, my guess is as follows;

He could have used less zoom on the image, and then crop and zoom at the processing stage. However the image quality would be reduced.

The other option would be to print it with the fence, meaning have the fence in the picture.

Again not ideal.

Changing the angle of the camera and getting more sky would be best.

However, either this was not possible, or with hindsight that is exactly what he wishes he had done.

Cloning is not allowed and yet it is there for all to see. Marc has however continued to deny the obvious and he has chosen to leave the site and asked for all of his images removed. It all seems rather foolish to me, totally unnecessary, but there is no further point to this thread so it is being closed.
