In Memory Of Patrick De Coninck

Tue Jun 07, 2016 9:51 am

Hi All

As many of you know Patrick as a Head Screener of the site and had much contact with him it is with great sadness that we have to inform you that he has passed away while on a cycling trip in Spain. He was repatriated by air to Luxembourg but there was nothing the doctors could do to save him.

His passing will be a great loss for many in the community and the community overall, he will be missed by many and the site won't be the same without him. He was a friendly and helpful person and we were fortunate to have him as a member of the team.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends who will miss him the most and we wish them all the best for the future.

May he rest in peace.

My god, I thought I read the thread title incorrectly at first.

Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and of course those who knew him and worked with him through this site.

Don't know what else to say. Just....shocking.

Patrick was one of the finest colleagues I worked with as a screener. I still have the Pilatus calendars he sent us hanging on the wall. Both Pilatus and this community have lost a wonderful man. My thoughts go out to his family and colleagues. He will be sorely missed.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news. I was lucky enough to have met Patrick a few years ago, when he invited me to stay at his house. He was a kind and welcoming host, even taking myself and Mick Bajcar up for a flight around Luxembourg in his own aircraft. His generosity is something that has stuck with me ever since, and I deeply regret that I never got the chance to reciprocate his kindness.

I feel I'm better off having met him and worked with him at a.net, and that the world is that much worse off with his loss.

We are totally devastated. My Wife and I had planned to meet him and his Wife Valerie next week in Luxembourg.

Patrick was a real Gentleman and our hearts go out to Valerie.

RIP Patrick .

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news and actually still can't. I have spent many hours with Patrick at and around airfields and outside of them. His joyful mood and his energy were contagious and I am greatly saddened that our last planned meeting did not take place anymore.

My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go to Valérie.

Repose en paix, Patrick.

I am still deeply shocked by this sad news. I missed the chance to meet Patrick in person, but through emails, I could feel his kindness and his love of flying. Patrick is also a great mentor on the screen team, I learned so much from his wholehearted help. It certainly a great loss for A.net and the community.

Rest in Peace Patrick, my thoughts go to Valérie and his family.

I am still very shocked by this. I never met Patrick, but some of his personal emails to me showed a warmth and kindness that will make me miss him terribly. He was one of the best. I shall pray for him and his family, he will not be forgotten. Andrew

My condolences to his family and friends. A friend here in Brazil passed away in the same way as Patrick, very sad.

Nice move to put a note on the right side of the front page.

From one rider to another - RIP Patrick and my sincerest thoughts and best wishes go to your family.

You try not to think about this when you go out riding. But it's something that can happen no matter how cautious you are, some things are out of your control. But you ride anyway because it is what you love doing, and for many riders, if you take away riding, you take away a part of them.

Hope you fly high and cycle forever whenever you are.

This is such sad news, I can hardly believe this... I haven't visited the site regularly over the past months. I am really shocked reading this very sad news just now!

I had the pleasure to meet Patrick and his wife Valérie some years ago (in Zoersel) during an aviation event (PhotoFlying Days 2010), and several times thereafter during airshows in Belgium. Patrick was a real gentlemen, always very friendly and helpfull and also a good teacher. I learned a lot from his advice/feedback on photography (as a screener and also as a friend). He also tried several times to convince me to visit him in Luxembourg and he also invited me several times to fly with him in his personal plane, the Cessna T210N Turbo Centurion II ( LX-AHZ ). I now regret so much having never found the time to visit him...

My condolences to Valérie, his family and friends.

RIP Patrick, blue skies!

I exchanged a few emails with him some month ago and I had the impression of a extraordinarily friendly and courteous person. This impression is confirmed by the many expressions of esteem written on this forum.

My thoughts go to all his loved ones!

Blue skies Patrick!

Carlo
