Prescreening and editing pointers.

Thu Jun 07, 2018 12:56 am

So I would like some opinions on some of these pictures. Also not sure if imgur is the best way to post them but here they are anyways.

Hi,

MU B738: Needs a tighter crop
AC E190: A bit underexposed, noisy, and soft/blurry
HA B763: Underexposed, too much contrast, and the rear of the fuselage and tail looks soft/blurry
FX MD11: Blochy sky and nose looks blurry. Also needs a tighter crop.
DE B763: Obvious haloing by the winglet
FX MD10: Underexposed

I'd wait for a second opinion as I may be wrong or missing other issues on some of them.

Ya some of them haven't been cropped or fully cropped yet. The HA 767 is a dusk shot so contrast will be slightly fun to fix.

They are all blurry. At least the first two are not fixable I am afraid. Do you see the blurriness yourself?

I do see blurriness on the tails of the 767 and 737 which from the angle I took it at i'm guessing. I don't see any blur on the MD10.. Where are you seeing that?

As Stefan pointed out, the UPS and Alaska are too blurry to work, even in smaller sizes. The DC-10 looks more soft than blurry to me. I would try another edit in a smaller size, increasing the contrast and removing some blue color cast.

Cheers,
Miguel

https://imgur.com/a/M942YMB Added a little bit to the contrast and removed some of the tint on the md10.
https://imgur.com/a/YZuWiWs what do you think on this one? Oh and all are full res still and not saved as reduced size

Hi Wolf, sorry for my late reply. The DC-10 looks still a bit soft to me, especially towards the rear. But you might check with a screener because my eye for softness is not that good. The Hawaiian lacks quality I am afraid. You can see it overall but mostly around the wing. It might be called soft but I think it`s not fixable. It`s also underexposed or dark due to the lacking sunlight. In the middle it seems to have a reflection or something I can`t understand. Good luck

Hi, those photos you posted there seem to be the original size image. Showing images which have aleady finished all editing process here can get better response. Since you will upload those pics after resizing instead of original size. Showing aft resizing images here can get more precise feedback like sharpness. BTW, these two look unerexposed i think. Since you didn't provide resizing images, i couldn't give any opinions on sharpenss yet.
Cheers,
Harry

So I would like some insight why this one was rejected being centered. Image
But this one was accepted being honestly kinda low in frame. Image

Hello,
First of all, in order to see precise result i downloaded this image and have a quick check in my PS and here is the result:
Image
According to the image, the center looks not bad to me actually. As you can see the upper space is almost the same as the under space. Although i think the under part is bit of bigger than the upper one, it still looks not bad to me.

However, i found another problem of this image i think you can fix it quickl.
Image
Here is a visible dirty spot.

BTW, the saturation of this one looks bit of too high to me honestly since the colour looks pretty unnatural and the whole image looks bit of green/cyan to me. Reducing bit of it should be better i think (But just my persoanl opinions.). Especially after comparing to this one :Image
From colour respect, i prefer this one

Cheers,
Harry

funny enough the dirt spots there was another one about 1/3 left above the clouds. were not noted or flag on any uploads of it but I did notice them afterwards.
How is this one? hybrid of the two in terms of color/position.

The centering of the first photo is spot on and definitely not high in frame. The second photo is quite low in frame.

Well, you could have a try to it if it won't be rejected by "Dirty". Center is certainly on for me.

Not familiar with reuploading a picture. Would that be a ok idea with the accepted picture?

Oops :D I didn't notice that those two pics are the same aircrafts. Yes, you can use "Re-upload" function to upload another version to replace the current one but "Re-upload" still need to be screened. Thus, it still needs time but it'll be faster than normal queue most of time.

Harry

Alright gave the edited shot a try....
What do people think of this one? Thought it was a fun shot with the 752 leaving behind it.

Even though there is no clear reference, my feeling is that it needs some CW rotation. Can you try that and see which one you like best? Otherwise looks very nice.

Qatar and Cathay look nice.

Of N570UP, only one can be uploaded as they are all double. Personally I would go for "IMG 7711 2", but with better colors. It looks yellow/red as is and needs more blue. Otherwise looks nice.
The Delta looks a bit red as well and quite soft (also due to the glare). Windowline, titles and cockpit are especially soft.
FedEx: a bit high in frame and could use some more brightness and increased contrast.
