Kas,
Was that you who rejected my Challenger shot and left the comment?
If so, that was a nice comment! is the eraser tool in Lightroom though?

Yeah that was me :)
If you don't do so already, try to sharpen in layers. That way, you can easily use the eraser to eliminate any jaggies that may occur. If you're unsure how, I have a YT tutorial; shoot me a PM if you want the link. The eraser tool in Photoshop is located in the sidebar. In Lightroom it should be under brushes or something, but I'm not exactly sure.

PM sent.
Or at least I think so, I typed it, hit submit but can’t see it in my outbox.
If it’s just user error, then it’s my fault.

Pre-screen?
I think this may be up-loadable at 1920px, but please do say if it isn't.

Airtransat is showing a bit of jaggies on the main titles and trailing edge of vertical stabilizer. I think it would look better smaller as well since at this size flaws are magnified.
Quality for the C130 looks fine for me. Check the level though...judging from the far edge of the runway, perhaps some CW rotation? I'd have to rotate it and see to say for sure. I was unable to download the image as a jpeg to check.

Cheers.

Hey Jehan,
Air Transat is already at 1280px. Would it be wiser just to desharpen it a little bit regrade then size it down more?
Have a great day,
Tim

Hi Tim,
RE. the Air Transat, I would apply the sharpening on a background layer and then erase those areas that show jaggies. I would leave the size at 1280 pixels. Sorry, my bad: I thought it looked larger than 1280 pixels!

Hey guys,
I would like a pre-screen on this photo: https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/ai ... 15944bf587
I ticked the "military" category, is this correct?

Hi, the black stripes have jaggies on my screen so I would say oversharpened. Greets Stefan

Little bit of jaggies on the tail/rudder line and the registration number, but otherwise OK for me.

Not seeing too significant jaggies. If it's military operated, then that category indeed applies.

PC12 info wil be updated, in the meantime, will the pylons cause a rejection in this photo? (https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/ai ... d9c4f477ae)
If you notice anything else about the photo that may cause a rejection do say so.
Thanks,

Yes, this one needs Colorful/Special Paint category. But the image looks blurry to me especially the rear and the tail area in this case.

The whole image looks blurry...also visible in the main titles and nose area and the window line. No way t judge if it will work at 1100 pixels until I can see it. Perhaps another image from your series might have a sharper constitution.

This photo was just rejected for oversharpened, blurry, and quality. https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/ai ... 69bbce2c3e
Is it fixable?
I’m not sure how it can be blurry though, it was at 1/1000 and I held the camera steady.

Re: Screening help.

I'm pretty sure I screened and rejected this image...sorry :(. Blurriness is visible towards the front of the fuselage (titles and nose). The larger issue is the over sharpening: jaggies are visible on the titles and also the outer edge of cockpit/nose and also along the window line . Re. blurriness, it can be caused by camera shake or by sections of the aircraft being out of focus. In your case, it is that the front of the aircraft is out of focus (possible a depth of filed issued) compared to the rear half. If you think it was too harsh a screening, you can try an appeal.

Cheers,

I don't think i'll appeal it, i have re-edited it with less sharpening, and at a smaller size, and will reupload when I have time today.

Hey there Tim, From this 3/4 rear perspective, the tail dominates the composition and therefore should be used to balance the aircraft. IMO placing the aircraft lower will also reduce more of the visible unsightly fence in the foreground. Your second crop looks better.

The image that you requested pre-screening: Looks OK but I'm not on my screening monitor right now so I'm unable to offer detailed feedback.

Tim: I checked out your second Cargo Jet. At this size, I see some noise under the wing and in the shadow areas.. I recommend either uploading at a smaller size or applying some NR in those areas. Otherwise it should be fine.

Not great, but can't quite put my finger on it. But passable I guess. The difference in color of the line could be the type of paint, which shows different colors in different light.

I'd crop closer on the left, right to the wingtip of the Cessna. It's also a bit too bright/OE. The helicopter as main subject is fine.
