Another leveling-related image here. This one I'm unsure about:

Something about it just, well, looks off.
If I had to say it would be slightly OE low contrast, a touch of CCW rotation, and a tad soft near the tail (however I think that would be harsh, as its barely noticeable.)

Looks like it could use some CW rotation. The water line in the far background looks like it is sloping up from the left. Some jaggies visible around the cockpit as well. And I agree with Tim...looks a tad bright.

New edit of the Hawg. Reduced the exposure and adjusted the leveling. Any better?

Had both of these rejected earlier today for Soft:

Not sure if I agree with either. I would prefer to appeal both since I just waited 15 days to get a few of my images screened.

Stumped by this one. Rejected for CCW rotation:

I think there's some optical deception going on because you can't see a background. I'd say it's passable.

Thanks for the feedback Kas and Tim. Appealed it earlier this week and it was accepted. Sorry for the late update, been buried in school and work-related stuff!

Please accept my apologies for being a total newbie.

I have been using pics from airliners.net for my wallpaper and Facebook profile/cover pics for about twenty years, and I felt it was time to start contributing.

My first submission was rejected, but I got some encouraging feedback and talked to a guy in a "Jetphotos Crew" T-Shirt I met.

So, some $400 worth of equipment later (Facebook marketplace and eBay), and after much practising and lurking on these very forums, I have finally come up with this.

https://postimg.cc/5Xc7Dwgq

I don't want to waste anyone's time, but would really like some feedback on this. Here's what I have done so far:

1) The pic was taken from about 200yds west of IAH Runway 15L, the runway this aircraft just departed from.
2) It was taken about an hour before sunset, with the sun almost, but not quite, directly behind me.
3) I used the "Full Auto" setting on a Canon EOS D500 with a 75-300 lens, no filters.
4) I edited it with GIMP. I sharpened it a little, increased the brightness slightly and used the Heal function to get rid of the top of a lampost.
5) I resized it to 1400x993.

It would join the achievements of my life to get something accepted here. Probably even more than the time I got a letter published in Private Eye.

Thank you for your consideration.

Andy,

Sorry, but this image will not make it. For starters it is quite blurry. That by itself is a non-starter. The low shutter speed 1/320th of a second may be the cause resulting in motion blur. You might try using a larger aperture and using ISO 200 as a way to increase your shutter speed and thereby freeze the motion.

I had some incredible luck this week and caught the new United livery four times in three days. I took these two on Friday, but I am completely torn between them. I initially planned on adding the second photo to the queue, but the first one has grown on me a lot. Now I can't decide... Other opinions would be welcome!

The second one looks blurry, so I'd go with #1. Harsh contrast though, so I would re-edit and ease up on that a little.

Thanks Kas and Jehan. I only adjusted color and exposure for both. Haven't put both in PS and done sharpening yet. I only linked my Flickr uploads since I haven't finalized both yet and my queue slots are full. :)

Thank you for the great feedback! I read the manual for my camera again, and found a few instructional pieces online, and have come up with these. The differences this time is I used much faster shutter speeds (1/640, 1/800 and 1/1000) and ISO 200. I had the aperture and other things on auto. I also sat on the roof of my car, but then I read the manual for the car and it said you shouldn't put more than 50lbs on the roof... These pics were taken late morning rather than mid afternoon.

1: https://postimg.cc/3Wfjy0pV UA Express new livery.
2: https://postimg.cc/9r4dyXYM UA new livery.
3: https://postimg.cc/R3mwr756 Air China 777. I like 777s. I have one tattooed on me.
4: https://postimg.cc/0ryd2067 I just thought this pic was cool.

Again, I am really thankful for all the constructive advice I've had and really want to start contributing. If I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, I'd like to know about it. I really like the "banking away" attitude of these pics, but I could be having a Wile E Coyote moment.

Thanks again,

andy
