Is this one blurry as well?

The last one does not appear blurry to me. However it is underexposed due to the unsuitable angle of light (overhead). Also, it will draw a "Motive" rejection due to the obstruction by the stairs.

Hello, I shoot photos with Aperture priority, (normally set at f8), and I did f6.3 on the photos that I had you pre-screen.
Is there a way to avoid the blurry photos? The shutter speed is automatically set, depending on the lighting conditions, but can I manually pick aperture speed, and shutter speed while on the Av Priority mode?
A experienced spotter at CVG airport, helped me configure my Canon T4i identically to his 5DMII, but I don't understand what caused my photos to become blurry, as I've never had that issue before with the new settings.

Thank you,
Andrew

I would use the fastest shutter speed possible to avoid any kind of camera shake, which is one cause of blur. Another cause of blur could be the sharpness characteristics of the lens itself. The 3rd issue would be a focusing issue. If you have an alternate lens, you might see if the image quality is better. I would also recommend photographing in good light (sunny day with light behind you). For e.g. at the Viewing Area at CVG in the morning for Rwy 18L. You might also test your gear out on some stationary subjects using a tripod. If images are still blurry, your gear might need attention.

Lighting is harsh,,,best to avoid noon lightning from overhead. While the lighting is not the most flattering, I can't see anything else that would keep it from getting accepted.

Hi Andrew,

#1: yellow, soft fuselage. Marginal quality.
#2: underexposed, needs a tighter crop. Poor light angle.
#3: blurry, low contrast, poor light.
#4: underexposed (way too backlit, unfixable by default).
#5: underexposed, low contrast, marginal light.

1: Dark/underexposed, slightly blurry towards the nose, a tad over-sharpened, jpeg compression.
2: Centering, CCW rotation, maybe a tad more contrast and an extra kick of exposure would help, jpeg compression
3: Jpeg compression, Noise, underexposed.
4: underexposed, jpeg compression, and needs a tighter crop IMO.
5: Green/yellow colour cast, borderline backlit, Jpeg compression, underexposed, a tad high in frame.

Needs a bit more contrast, but seems passable otherwise. However if you have a more interesting motive (with more to be seen outside, for example lower to the ground, nicer cloud formations, etc.) that would be better.

Hello, OK! No, this is the only good photo I got (Pretty much the whole flight we were in the clouds)
Also, I have three new photos that I'd like you to please take a look at.
BTW, #2 is a Airport Overview/Ramp overview

#1: blurry, heathaze, chromatic abberation, quality.
#2: distant, low contrast, too far away.
#3: blurry nose/tail, soft, heat haze, quality.

I’m on my iPhone so I can’t comment about sharpness:
#1 could use a tighter crop, it also looks a little yellow
#2 will be motive/distance, it’s to much dead space.
#3 a tad yellow and could use some more contrast.
Wait for a screeners comment on sharpness and for a better analysis on the photos.

Andrew,

The overview of the DHL ramp also has a lot of empty space and the aircraft are too far away. The view from the Viewing Area at CVG is unfortunately too far away and also causes a lot of heat haze.

Both have a green color cast and are heavily jpeg compressed. Some more contrast may help for both of them as well.

I agree about the green cast...perhaps from photographing through the terminal glass window. Looks quite soft as well.

Andrew:

#1 is backlit and therefore will draw an "underexposed" rejection.
#2: The Ultimate Air Shuttle is over exposed and has a red color cast. Also soft in the nose area.
#3: The Cirrus is over exposed, soft, has a yellow color cast. There is also some purple fringing.

#2 Looks better
#3 Still looks soft and the quality is just not there. The lettering on the Cirrus should be blue not purple. It just may be the characteristics of the lens you're using. Typically the purple fringing is caused by chromatic aberration which is a characteristic of the quality of the glass material and the construction of the lens. Try a different lens...perhaps borrow one or rent one. At least you'd know if it was your lens that was at issue or something inherently wrong with the body of your camera.

Hmmm. That doesn't look like CA around the reg. to me in that Cirrus shot — I'd expect to see CA on the higher contrast edges such as the black 'SR20' logo on the white tail. Incorrect white balance leading to a hue is the more likely culprit but it's hard to clarify at such a small size. There does appear to be a touch of CA on the fin's leading edge, however.

CA is more a characteristic of the light as all lenses in certain circumstances will produce it. I've known high-end Canon L lenses be particularly bad offenders, and crappy budget lenses control it surprisingly well. Wide-angles are generally more susceptible in my experience.

Looks better in terms of sharpness, though I'm concerned about the photo being overexposed; I would wait for pre-screening feedback from the screeners.
