Pre-Screening - McG1967

Fri May 10, 2019 9:18 pm

Could do with some opinions on these shots taken in heavy showers:

Emirates A380 kicking up a lot of spray on landing

EZY A320 Neo - not sure on crop. Would it look better with the fuselage more towards the middle of the frame and top of tail cut off?

Blue Air B738 - similar to above, not sure on crop.

Finally a night shot of a Canadian Air Force Challenger. Is the brightness of the ramp / grass in foreground too distracting?

My thoughts:
EmiratesA380: Looks soft. Noise is visible as well. For this kind of condition, it could use some additional exposure and contrast. In its current condition, I say it will draw a rejection,
EZ Jet A320:Tail section is bit soft. I think if you fix that and boost the contrast a bit it would be passable for me.
Blue Air B737:The crop is unsuitable due to the tip of the horizontal stabilizer being cropped out of the frame(right side). Best to crop closer to the engines on both sides. Also image looks soft and could use more contrast. The rainbow in the background makes a nice add to the composition.
CAF Challenger: Needs more contrast and some sharpening. I would adjust the contrast first since it tends to sharpen up the image. Nice lighting IMO.

Many thanks.
I'll have a go at re-editing the Emirates and the CAF challenger.
The other 2 the softness at the tail is due to depth of field - shot at F4.
