Post Screening - McG1967

Wed Jun 12, 2019 7:01 pm

Had this photo rejected for motive, along with a personal message saying avoidable pole.

There is a small fence that runs along the length of the taxiway over the canal that partially covers the wheels.
It is not possible to take this particular shot without part of the wheels being blocked by that fence.

What are the current motive rules regarding parts of the aircraft being blocked?

Is it worth submitting an appeal?

Hey Mark,

It's a bit too bright and it would be nicer if the nose gear was not blocked by the pole (I realize the man gear is unavoidable). We have similar photos from this spot, so it's not impossible. If this is your only good shot, I'd add it after the exposure is better.

Kas,

Many thanks. I'll have a look through the sequence to see if there is one without the nose gear blocked.
Noted the comment about the brightness needing adjusted lower.

Definitely not soft. I'll second Kas' opinion that it is too bright... toning down the exposure should do the trick.

Been experimenting with some new editing techniques lately based on Jid Webb's Lightroom video on YouTube.

Following have all been rejected for soft:

How much of an extra kick of sharpness do these need?

My thoughts:

KLM B737: Marginally soft. Easily adjusted.
BA A321: The entire aircraft looks noticeably soft...almost blurry. You may ahve to apply a few passes and see how it looks.
Icelandid B757: Same as the BA

Thanks Jehan,

I'll give the KLM another go and resubmit.

The BA & Icelandair I'll probably leave.
