Hi

So I re edited to fix the banding and it got rejected again today as soft and a personal mesage:
The Screener left a comment regarding this photo: "No banding to be seen. Quite soft though."

Image

So I have edited it again with another pass of selected sharpening but I am worried about it being oversharpened and Jaggies what do you think?

Should I appeal it or is it too soft?

The image in your last post looks a bit flat compared to what I commented on. Sometimes low contrast looks soft. Not sure if when uploading your images are losing some quality. Based on the image in your last post, I would not appeal. I'm not sure why you images are deteriorating between what you show here and what is uploaded...but it is known to happen based on some profile settings in Adobe/Lightroom/Photoshop Elements. I use Photoshop Elements 11. If you use PSE, I'd be happy to share my "save" settings. PM me. Perhaps some other's can comment as well.

Hi Jehan

The only difference between the two should be that one is hosted on my webspace and the other is uploaded to Airliners.net. I copied the url from the rejected screen in my photo corner. Does the upload to airliners do some kind of proccessing on the image? I had an issue with the first image I uploaded this year not being in the sRGB colour space and looking pink on airliners after being accepted. I am using Adobe Lightroom and photoshop CC. I do most of my editing in lightroom and then open in Photoshop to sharpen and resize.

I have just put the two pictures into photoshop as two layers and done a difference blend and it shows the images as identical.

I have also done a new edit from scratch with more contrast. what do you think of this one?

Hi,

Got rejected again,
Image
From the email:

Here's why your photo was rejected:

- Oversharpened
- Personal Message

The Screener left a comment regarding this photo:
"Sorry, now oversharpened. Post this in the Forums and ask how to best edit to reduce jaggies and improve sharpness.
Please do not use Builder field."

Not sure what more I can say other than I think it is acceptable. I cannot see any jaggies that would cause me to reject this image. I am at a loss to understand the oversharpening rejection. At this point, nothing lost in appealing.

Sorry that you're having so much trouble with this image.

I fully agree with Jehan, to me it is not oversharpened, neither.

I would personally appeal it.

Hi

Thanks guys, it just got accepted on appeal, this photo is special for me. The first officer was a friend and we got to board early and visit flight deck before the flight.

Special thanks to Jehan for his patience.

Richard, that is great to hear. Actually, thanks to your patience with the apparent inconsistency in screening. Glad the appeal process came through for you and happy that the image got added.

Glad to have helped out a little!

Cheers,

Hi

Got this rejected as overexposed underexposed and a personal message of back lit.

Image

The sun was high but behind me, I guess theres nothing I can do with this?

How about this edit?

Neither work for me Rich. #1 has a good portion of the aircraft facing the viewer in the shadow which is why it drew the underexposed/backlit rejection. The top looks overexposed to me as well. I'd say it is impossible to recover balanced lighting. Same for #2. Both images also look over-sharpened to compensate for blur.
