Post-screening HBZER

Sun Oct 06, 2019 5:26 pm

Hello,

I'm new on Airliners.net and I've uploaded 2 photos and they have been rejected.

In first this picture for underexposed, quality and distance
https://www.airliners.net/user/photo-co ... to/5686547

Then this picture for underexposed, quality and not just in frame
https://www.airliners.net/user/photo-co ... to/5686543

For the quality It's probably because I've uploaded a reduced size (1887x1258 px instead of 5291x3527px). I've use this format on flickr to avoid a photo theft on social medias and If I've right this size is accepted by airliners.net.

For underexposition I use a scrren correctly calibrated in brightness and color and for me the exposition is globally correct, maybe too lot of shadows on the belly of the A380 ? To increase chance of acceptance I can increase the exposition level.

For the "not just in frame", I think it's because I've cut a wheel on the right side and for this I can't do anything.

Can you tell me how I can improve these pictures ?

Thank you in advance.

Edit : I've forgot, the second picture was rejected too for distance (too close ?) and soft.

The base quality doesn't seem as poor as we often see, but I strongly recommend you to properly read this thread before uploading:

Thank you so much for this link, I will read it carefully. But I don't know how to improve quality, any idea ? Maybe for the moment I want to improve the other points.

The quality isn't super bad and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your equipment. The Easyjet looks sharp, but needs post-processing/better in-camera photo taking.
the A380 looks a bit blurry, but that can be expected for such a photo and doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of your gear.

I've identified two problems. During Take-off or landing Airplanes are a little bit blurry, it's very visible on the nose. I'm using a shutter speed of 1/500 and I'm using a 70-300 in APS-C (105-450 Full Frame equivalent), maybe an higher speed like 1/1000 or 1/2000 can avoid blurry effect ? But I need to decrease depth of field (open to f/5.6 instead of f/9). In a second time, I can use a monopod to increase stability during shooting.

The second problem come from Lightroom exportation, I'm losing a lot of detail and quality. I'm using now only DxO Photolab for development, much better.

I recommend using a faster shutter speed than 1/500th of a second for airplanes taking off or landing especially when using a long focal length. A guideline for shutter speeds in relationship to the focal length is to use the inverse. I.e. if you're using a 300 mm lens, then you need at least a 1/300th sec shutter speed for a hand held shot of a stationary subject. On an APC, I would make that 1/450th. For a subject that is in fast motion, you'd need at least 1/1000th of a second (IMO) to assure no motion blur. As for aperture, I consistently shoot at f/5.6 or wider when the subject is at distance where the depth of field is not that shallow even at long focal lengths. this assumes shooting on a bright sunny day using an ISO of 200.

If you're having blur at the edges (e.g. nose, and/or tail), it could be lens aberration as well. Higher quality lenses tend be sharp across the entire frame.

Hope this helps.

I am able to see the image. Unfortunately, the image is underexposed, low contrast, soft and noisy. Quality is just not there for an a.net acceptance.

Hello, thank you for your last answer, I continue to improve my pictures.

What I need to change in this picture for a net acceptance ? (normally the picture is visible for all person that know the link)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=18C7CF ... bxAxBVLx44

It's necessary to cut the right wing to center the plane on the fuselage ?

Hello, unfortunately there's no way of getting this accepted. There's strong sunlight from the other side (backlit). First of all try to take photos in good conditions (sunny, not too far, etc.) It will make it easier to edit and get it accepted on Anet.
