Hello -

May I ask for your thoughts on this post-screened shot, please.

Many thanks.

I see noise, compression, banding, and vignetting. Also, it has been sharpened too much.

Many thanks, B747Saeed. Without taking too much of your time, given the unavoidable need to compress my 20mb/5000px shots, how is it possible to avoid visible compression signs?

My pleasure. Well, in case of Photoshop, [JPEG] compression appears when you’re not saving the photo with the highest quality option. Resizing doesn’t have anything to do with compression.

I’ll have a look when I’m back home.

Again - I appreciate the response. My problem is that I very rarely need to reduce the size of my photos with such a high standard of recipient quality and am therefore somewhat ignorant of the issues that go with it. I don't use 'Photoshop' as such, but have yesterday tried "GIMP' which is apparently a simpler version of PS. I have scaled the second shot mentioned here (BEA A319) to 1700px wide and have chosen 'cubic' interpolation. I have been experimenting with various settings and I am seeing much less pixelation with this tool than previously. I also attach another shot and would be grateful for your thoughts on its likelihood of acceptance. Many thanks again.

Sorry — I didn't have access to the Internet for a week.

It's blurry, noisy, oversharpened, and soft. I also see compression and halos.

This one looks blurry, oversharpened, and soft. There's also compression in the sky.

You're welcome. I'm not sure that I understood your problem and, since I only use Lightroom and Photoshop, I have no idea about other photo editing software. Maybe a more experienced photographer or a screener knows the solution of you problem.
