Prescreening Advice

Sun May 02, 2021 11:13 am

Hi there,

I am new to Airliners.net with little experience with sites like this one.
Could I please have some advice about these two images? I think that they should be fine however I cannot find a guidelines list so I cannot confirm.
I have attached the links to the images below.

The Qantas B738 is 1400px wide
The HiFly A343 is 1280px wide

Thank you so much in advance!

Hello Adam,

Welcome to airlines.net.

The Qantas 737 needs some CW rotation. The runway and the fence posts in the background are leaning to the left. Also the aircraft could use some sharpening.
CS-TQY A330 could benefit from some contrast. Otherwise IMPO it looks fine.

The Acceptance Guide can be found on the Photo Upload page or here:www.airliners.net/faq/photo_acceptance_guide/

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Jehan

Hi Jehan,

Thank you so much for reviewing my images. I think I will upload CS-TQY with a little bit extra contrast.
I have altered the QFA 738 slightly to match your suggestions, I probably got it wrong but here it is anyway.

Thank you again for providing your suggestions!

Thanks,
Adam

Hello Adam,

QFA 737 still leaning a bit left in my eyes, but is now much better sharpening wise.
Really nice light as well!

Agree with Tim. It needs CW rotation. If you align the runway to be horizontal it should be good.

Hi Jehan and Tim,

Thank you for your advice, I have decided not to upload the Qantas 737 but did go ahead with the HiFly A343.
Could I please hear your thoughts on this image? It is a Nauru Boeing 737-300 that I believe is based here in Brisbane!
I have attached the link to the image below.

Could use some CW rotation. Also the rear section looks a tad soft and could use some sharpening.

Hi Jehan,

Thanks for taking a look at PNI. It does look quite soft and noisy toward to tail so I might not upload it to the queue.
Could I please hear your thoughts on my image of VH-YWE. I am pretty happy with it however I am not overly experienced with photography so I'd love some guidance.

Thanks,
Adam

Looks a little Over Exposed to me, as well as high in frame, should be fixable.

Thanks for your feedback Tim. I am not super happy with that shot so I might avoid uploading it altogether. It is both dark and overexposed so yeah, I dont want to upload something Im not happy with.
Could I please hear your opinions on these two images. The first being an image of VH-YAI [1600px] and an image of VH-VPF [1600px].

Kind Regards,
Adam

GLEX: Probably acceptable as is, however the crop look weird imo. Personally I would crop it right up to the engine on the left side of the image. IT also could do with a slight hit of ccw roation.

VH-VPF: Definitely high in frame. otherwise it looks ok.

Hi Tim,

I tried the crop you suggested on the GLEX however I just didn't like how it looked. I prefer to give the fuselage a little more space and have it in the 'sort of' centre of the image. I will leave the image in the queue and if it gets rejected for horizon I'll do as you suggest and adjust it slightly. I have attached another link to VH-VPF, I hope that it looks a bit better now since I have lowered the aircraft.

Thank you for your feedback, it is really appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Adam

Still looks High. In this case the tail dominates the perspective and factors into the centering. Centering based on the fuselage alone will render it High in Frame.
A good way to judge is to look at a thumbnail sized version of the image. In the case of this image, the thumbnail says HIF. Screeners use this method when evaluating images.

Jehan

Hi Jehan,

Thank you for providing me with that method. I have tried utilising the thumbnail sized version of this image.
I think it looks pretty good but my lack of experience leads me to believe that I could be wrong.

Hello Adam,

I looked at the thumbnail sized version of this and the centering looks acceptable to me.

High in frame (when factoring in the tail), fuselage lacks contrast and is borderline overexposed.

I am pretty happy with it however I just wanted to get a second opinion before it spends a while in the queue just to be rejected.

Hey Adam

The photo needs more contrast. By panning the camera to follow the subject, the background blurs nicely, accentuating the speed and motion of the airplane.

Thanks

The titles look blurry and the text on the forward gear bay door is nearly unreadable.

Looks like it has a heavy yellow color cast even for sunset lighting. Otherwise OK for me.

Could a screener please pre-screen two images?
The first is VH-ZNC (B789) Queue ID: 6487633
And the second is F-ONEO (A339) Queue ID: 6487623

Thank you,
Adam
