The most 747s in a single photo
What is the biggest number of 747s in a single photo on anet? I think I’ve counted 24-25 in MHV or VCV but surely LHR or Narita must have had as many.

Not sure about the most but the aerial photo of Gander/CYQX on Sept 11, 2001 has quite a few.

I personally was amazed the first time I broke out of an early morning fog at LHR and saw the BA lineup. Unfortunately I was on a VS 340 haha

It's not the most Boeing 747s in a photo, but the early shots of early-production airframes awaiting their engines on the Everett ramp (while the problems of the JT-9D's overheating were being solved) surely deserve mention. At least one of these photos is in the Boeing Historical Archives.

Just after the stateside arrival bank at Narita during the mid to late 90's you could easily count 30 to 40 747s. Mixture of classics and the 400 were all over the ramp (buss gates), cargo ramp and in the gates. And that was when it was single runway. Can't find a photo though that represents that density.

I saw a photo of NRT in the 90's with about 10 NW and JL 747's in a row.

Fun question!
You've got a few categories: those in storage or waiting to be scrapped (which I think is least interesting), those pre-delivery, and those working frames an an airport. For the last category, I believe this nice shot includes more than twenty. Perhaps as many as two dozen.

Years ago on some business trip I was spotting at Narita from the outdoor observation deck. This was when it had only the first terminal with those four round connected satellites. At each rounded embarkation area were I think six gates. At that moment virtually every gates was occupied. Most airframes were 747s, although some DC10s/MD11s could be seen as well. I recall some in Northwest colors. Maybe an L1011 from Cathay. Looking out at the sight I remember thinking how Narita must have the world's highest density of widebodies among major airports. Much higher than LAX, JFK, Heathrow, and even Changi or Kai Tak.

JFK in the 1980’s:
Pan Am, TWA, International Terminal Most Airliners flew their 747 on a daily base:
Aer Lingus, Sabena, British Airways, British Caledonian, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, SAS, ElAl, Alia, Iberia, Alitalia, Olympic, Swissair, Aerolineas Argentinas, Varig, Korean Air, JAL, etc.
Pan Am, TWA, International Terminal Most Airliners flew their 747 on a daily base:

It might not exactly be the most, but at MLB, we had 7 of them all parked right next to each other at one point.

Surely that would have been surpassed by T5 overviews no? In pictures that shows the B and C gates I've counted a large number of 747s. Not sure if that would be a record or not though.

This is a good photo - I counted 28 747s around Narita. There are more Northwest aircraft than JAL!

The "US tanker" in the left of photo is actually an IIAF tanker. One of the original 5-28x registered ones (zoom in on the registration on the tail, looks like 5-284). Ex-TWA of course! This photo was taken between 1975 (when the IIAF tankers were purchased) and 1976 (when the IIAF tankers were all re-registered to 5-81xx).

T4 doesn't have that many gates and it's not very large. In fact it was a sh*t show of a terminal because it was originally designed for short haul p-2-p flights.
NRT has to be it. In the 90's it almost seemed like operating a 747 was a prerequisite for obtaining slots at Narita
