Spots On The Lens?

Mon Feb 18, 2013 1:48 am

There is a spot just under the nose of this aircraft which I have been noticing on my other photographs too. Its in the same spot and I am not sure whether its on the lens or the filter. Some of the pictures I am able to crop it out, but in this case, its too close to the plane. I have compressed this image for upload ease.

What do I need to do? What am I doing wrong (or not doing) from a camera / lens maintenance / cleaning stand point?

Help Please!

More likely it's on the sensor, and I can see more than one in this image.

Sensor dust

Even pointing the camera down doesn't guarantee a dust free sensor.. Dust can get in through many other ways too. But it does help reduce the amount of dust the sensor can collect.

What, exactly, were you doing wrong? The only ways I get rid of sensor dust is by cleaning the sensor or cloning them out in post-processing.

I always held the camera facing up while changing out lenses and recall doing this atleast 2-3 times out doors. I am not sure if that is adding to the dust on the sensor. Like NZ107 said....It might help a little.
