Rejection - Multiple Reasons

Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:22 pm

This was rejected for:
Reject reason: high in frame oversharpened centered personal

This was my first ever upload. This was just basic editing in Picasa - No Photoshop. I can hardly tell the difference when I sharpen an image in Picasa. I was actually concerned about this being a little low in the frame. Please help.

It's not high in frame at all. These are high in frame.....

...but seem to have been added without attracting too much attention.

I'd be more concerned about how close that winglet is to the right frame edge. And the other rejection reasons of course, which quash any hopes of a successful appeal I'm afraid.

I have to admit I don't see oversharpening, but it does look like it was quite soft originally (still looks soft to me).

Anyway, the winglet looks slightly cutoff, so it would be a moot point.

Okay I accept the point on the winglet. I am not convinced about the oversharpening. I am not going to appeal this one but what do you think is causing the "soft"? This was shot at 1/1000 at ISO 100 & highest res jpeg - not RAW. I am still not comfortable with RAW......

There is some soft spots but it has oversharpened titles, around cockpit and the horizontal stabilizer edge is quite jagged.

Most images straight from the camera require sharpening, Some require more and some require less, Also depends on equipment being used and settings.

To me, it looks like it might be lens softness. Cheaper (and even some midrange) lenses can get quite soft toward the zoom extremes, especially if it gets softer toward the edges of the photo. My old 70-300 IS USM did exactly that beyond 250mm or so.

Tough to say without seeing the original, though.
