Post-Screening (mjgbtv)

Wed Jul 30, 2014 7:15 pm

Hi,

I had this one rejected for dark and distance:

I am not sure what to make of the distance. It seems like a fairly typical airport overview composition. There is a bit of space on the right side beyond the last tail, but I left that because I thought the cluster of lights was interesting.

As for the dark, it was night and the lights seem properly exposed so I don't know what else would be expected...

I did not have to search very hard to find similar images in the db.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Basically, too little subject, too much black area. Also looks blurry, especially given that all the taxiway lights are lines rather than points.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Could be, although I would argue that it's more subject than the average contrail shot...

True, but blur is not always a bad thing, even on this site. I think it gives a sense of motion while the background objects are pretty sharp.

In any case, thanks as always for the feedback.

You're not wrong, but contrail shots are just more appealing, I suppose.

Your shot might have worked if there were at least some detail in the airfield and/or sky.

What I meant was that it looks like the background objects are slightly blurry too, and I'm assuming they might be, given the taxiway light blur.
