Hi,

Here's my take on them:

1. Looks good
2. Good overall. Some of the lettering looks a bit oversharpened, but maybe not enough to matter.
3. Maybe a bit overexposed or over-contrasted?
4. Quality looks good, but maybe a bit of a blue/green cast?
5. Looks good

Hi Marty,

Thanks for the prompt reply! I will leave these in here in case others drop by, and re-work those in the meantime.

All looks a bit soft and all instead of second are dark to me - can't see any details at main gears. Second one seems too blue also.

1.Abit cyan
2.Has a cyan tint, grainy sky, vignetting (dark corners),soft and jagged in parts suffering from heat haze as quality does not seem to be there.
3.Soft
4. The sky looks grainy and has green tint, A quick edit of +8 magenta looks better.
5.Cyan tint. Needs about +8 red

Were you shooting through the terminal window for those with cyan green color casts?

Cheers Mark

The first two look really good to me.

3. The ANA has still a slightly cyan / blue cast to me, but could be passable..don't know. Sky is still abit grainy as well, though probably within limits.

4. It won't get rejected for that, but the crop is really tight. Just on a personal note the shot would look way better with a bit more space between the aircraft and the frame (like on your other DL767 shot). Other than that it looks fine.

Hi guys,

I'll leave the domestic 767 and work on the ANA a bit more and then repost it.

Quoting CJMoeser (Reply 7):
And you at SEA?

Nope, not right now, these were from last July.

Quoting CJMoeser (Reply 7):

Inside the terminal, down in B gates somewhere, don't remember where. Enjoy your visit on Sunday, the weather should be good. Hopefully you can get some decent shots early on or late in the evening!

Hi,

the KE looks fine. Nice shot.

DL-Skyteam: It seems to be a bit soft and the colours look washed-out to me, the sky is a bit grainy, too, although only slightly. And I have to say I am not a fan of the crop (looks unbalanced somehow), although I think it is acceptable.

Also on the DL-Skyteam, there's a hint of color fringing at the frame of the front pilot windshield/window, its obvious if you bring your attention to the nose.

I really cannot see that at all. Thanks for pointing that out though, I'll have a look. Julien, thanks for the advice, I'll leave the KE and rework the Skyteam at a later date.

So three out of the last four were rejected, pretty harshly in my opinion. I'm not quite sure what to do with these, I can maybe see the issues on the Jazz CRJ but the other two look fine to me.

https://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...314.6453dsc_2867jazzcr2sacopy3.jpg
This was tossed for overexposed and oversharpened.

https://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...174494.8033dsc_2943n121decopy4.jpg
This was tossed for soft. Really lost here.

https://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...174250.1959dsc_2814n1610dcopy2.jpg
This was tossed for overexposed and soft. Overexposed? Might be a little bright, but I don't think it is overexposed and I have absolutely no idea where the softness is.

I'd appreciate some help finding the issues here as I am pretty lost, especially on the last two!

Thanks,

John

Quoting DL747 (Reply 13):

This is just my opinion from a general photography point of view, not derived from A-Net experience:

They aren't over-exposed as a whole, but they do look partially over-exposed on upper halves of fuselages. Fine details like rivets, gaps and other plane bits are easily seen on the lower portion of the plane but that's not the case for the top of the fuselage. All fine details feels washed out by slightly strong exposure, I suspect the somewhat directly over the top sun light has something to do with it. I feel like if you bring down a bit of exposure, it will reveal the finer details. Also I personally feel your planes are too bright and the skies too dark. But I haven't seen the originals so I don't know if the skies actually look like that.

Edit: Here's what I did by applying some corrections in Lightroom, details are less blown out with the correction. Now of course, the plane may appear less than bleached white. Please fine tune for your desired look, overall the very strong highlight is causing loss of details on the upper section of the fuselage (thus it looks over exposed). I hope its of some use, I'm no veteran on A-Net but I do come from doing other forms of photography. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5594/14743650627_8690c669c9_o.jpg

The second one looks just a bit soft along the fuselage. Maybe there was a bit of heat haze? Keep in mind, too, that it is a larger image so the standards will likely be a bit higher.

The third looks soft on the top of the fuselage aft of the winglet, along the top of the nose and on the windows. It seems borderline for a rejection to me, but that's where I see it.

All 3 look a bit hot to me. The first one also has a light yellow/green-ish cast; Second one feels a bit soft overall; Last one has a light yellow-ish cast too.

Not overexposed in the least. Maybe borderline OS in spots, and has a cyan/green cast.

Quoting DL747 (Reply 13):

I think the light on the titles and windows makes them look a bit soft, but I don't think it's soft overall. Sky looks a bit noisy though.

Not overexposed, though closer than the 1st one. But quite high in frame, and yellow/green cast. Maybe slightly soft if anything, but acceptable I think.

I remember this one, it looked very soft but it's not as bad as I remembered. Try an appeal and see what happens.

Hi,

I'm pretty confused with the differing feedback, some offering additional issues, some saying appeal, some saying rejections are valid, others saying no, so I think maybe I'll appeal the one ghajdufi suggested and take a break for a while.

Agreed with the taking a break part, haha.   Seems like the standards have been upped even higher than previously. Getting a bit frustrating.
Going for great

John, I would appeal and see what happens. I have had a string of weird rejections lately where I have filed appeals. HS have been pretty fair in reassessing. Three out of my last five appeals were uploaded. One was rejected with them stating screener correct and the last was rejected with them telling me to just take down the exposure a slight bit or darken a little and resubmit.

I wouldn't advise taking a break. It just seems like a cyclical thing where you'll get moments that you just can't figure things out and moments where everything goes right.
