Post Screening Advice

Hello all,

I am having a hard time finding a middle ground on this image. It was originally rejected for overexposure. On appeal, a head screener said the exposure was fine but that it was blurry and oversharpened.

Looking through the database, I picked a few different images to see if I could find a middle ground that would work but images are (to me) either sharper or softer than mine in different areas. My original was as sharp as other shots I have accepted from the same day and location.

Hi,

The bare metal section of the nacelle does appear quite soft to me. It is probably just a trick of the light, but the eye does seem to get drawn to the engine so it is hard to miss. I think I would work on sharpening that up. Nothing else looks soft to me and the only spot that I might call oversharpened is the outline of the rear-most door.

Yeah, that diffuser is always very dull and being that it is a rounded edge and not sharp, it usually does not sharpen well.

The rear door being oversharpened, yeah, well, I feel the same way but they always turn out that way at this angle. Take a look at a lot of the images on the db that are angled and the way A.net likes the images sharp, they usually jag a lot because of it being a thin line. On a white plane, even worse... especially if the contrast is high like in very sunny days.

It does look like it might be a little blurry to me. Slight motion blur perhaps, as it looks like horizontal blur.

That is an absolutely gorgeous image. Flawless. Let me repeat that... FLAWLESS. F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S. Light, composition. Absolutely nothing to add. Your shot is aesthetically as perfect as you can get a shot to be. Perfect light, excellent angle. Gorgeous shot man. GORGEOUS. That's a Photographer's Choice/Photo of the Day image. Awesome capture dude. Keep doing what you're doing and don't change a thing. Put this picture AS IS on flickr or FB, you get 1000+ likes in 2 days.

You've got, what... close to a 1000 images in the data base? And images like THIS getting rejected.

VERY slight blur at best and I see nothing that makes it over sharpened, in fact I would have thought maybe a little soft given Engine 1s appearance.

Not a fan of this image being held out of the database as it is a beautiful angle.

For the most part, I think this is a great shot, beautiful image. I'm by no means a screener, but it's hard for me to find any problems with this. If anything, maybe the tail number is just a tad bit oversharpened. But this is much better than a lot of accepted shots.

I am going to try another image from the series as I took about 40 shots of the departure. Hopefully another one is less of a challenge to sharpen properly
