Centering/Cropping Questions

Hi All,

Newbie here. I read the rejection criteria and I am confused when it comes to centering/cropping aircraft that are not shot on profile. I guess this has to do with the horizontal stabilizer, wings and vertical stabilizer, and how those affect the crop. To me centering is placing the aircraft in the center of the image. Cropping it though is where the problem comes in.

Here is a hypothetical. How would you center/crop this so that it is acceptable?

Original image (aircraft seems almost centered in the frame):

And my shot at "aesthetically" centering and cropping it (pretty certain this will not be acceptable):

Thanks for the help!

I'd center like this while taking in consideration the tail.

Thanks Yang. So it is the crop that is important as in your crop the aircraft is neither horizontally nor vertically centered....

Quoting JASPC (Reply 2):

The plane needs to be centred both vertically and horizontally, regardless of the 'angle' of the plane - unless there are compelling reasons for an off-centre crop, Look at shots that are uploaded, the plane is almost invariably centred in both axes.

Your crop would almost certainly be rejected because of the dead space on the left of the frame.
