American Airlines First Class: New York to San Francisco

Mon Aug 15, 2016 11:51 am

When American Airlines launched its new A 321 First Class product on transcontinental services, I knew it would only be a matter of time before eventually I would feel the urge to try out this new service. With United Airlines' horrible P.S. First Class service having been discontinued, American is currently the only airline in the US to offer regular domestic services with a First, Business and Economy Class.

This is my first time on American Airlines and to be honest, I was not expecting much. All on all though, I think the product is sound. The hardware is really cool and it quite simply looks very cool to have an A 321 in a 1 + 1 configuration. But also the food and the service were good, with friendly and attentive staff. I like.

Really nice report. The cabin and seat look very nice and love the 1+1 configuration for single travelers. (4-inch monitor? :) ) The food and snacks for a 5 hour domestic flight were impressive. Before retiring and moving to Asia, I was on 2-3 AA flights a week for most of my 35-year career. Was there through good times and bad, so it is nice to see how some things have changed recently. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. @Marc: I hope you enjoy the experience, it really is something. I'm also kind of hoping there will be a trip report forthcoming...?

To be perfectly honest, for a long time American Airlines had a reputation in Europe of being one of the worse US carriers out there. However, from the experience I had with them, I think that must either be a misconception of they're really made an effort to step up their effort.

Cheers,
William

Stupid question, why is your title NY-SFO but your report is NY-LAX?
