Video Report Westjet WS337 - Edmonton to Vancouver - Boeing 737-800 (C-GKWJ) Background
Hello A'netters. Hope you are all well.
This is the fourth installment of our trip across Canada. The previous installments are below:Part 3 - Canadian Escapades - Toronto to Calgary - Air Canada B767-300ERPart 2 - Canadian Escapades - Quebec to Toronto - WestJet Encore Dash8 Q400Part 1 - Canadian Escapades - London to Montreal - BA 787-8
Our west Canada plan entailed us driving through the picturesque Banff and Jasper park, through the iconic Route 93. The plan was to finally make our way to Edmonton and then fly over to Vancouver.
There was quite a few flight options, but once again West Jet proved to have the best combination of pricing and timing. 5 minutes, a few clicks later, we had our flight to Vancouver booked. Simple! CAD 150 per head (+ baggage charge of CAD25 at the airport)
Thanks for Gcmaps for the below illustration:

Check in kiosks
Previous day of flight, online check in was once again seamless and easy. CAD 52.50 paid for 2 X check in baggage.
Day of the flight, drive into airport, car rental drop off, check in, bags drop and security was all seamless.
Edmonton airport was very quiet and a very good place to be. A lot of places to eat and shop.
Heading towards departure gates
Quite a few destinations for an airport of this size
Full flight announced at the gates. Allowed us to check in hand luggage too. I took advantage of that offer and also handed in the roller bag we had, to be checked in.
Slight delay due to an incoming flight from Toronto (again!) which had passengers connecting on this flight to Vancouver. Boarding commenced at 2200.

Great announcements at the gates. Westjet ground staff, from my experience so far, seem to be very proactive. Announced why the flight will be slightly delayed (due to captain and other passengers arriving from Toronto being delayed). Also announced that WiFi connect will be available and asked us to download the app to be able to use it on flight. Will give that a try.
Before boarding the aircraft
Our seats at row 18
Neighbours at Edmonton
Once on board, the cabin crew looked lively and engaging. They were seen joking around (very professionally) with passengers and very casual. Extremely good, once again. Aircraft was spotless.
Universal power supply - 2 of them for three seats
Decent leg space
Split Scimitar Winglets
Very good announcement from the cockpit apologising for the delay. Runway 12 announced with a cruising altitude of 38000 feet. 1hr and 10 minutes flight time.
Once airborne, crew sprang into action. Drinks and snacks were available complimentary.
Streaming worked well
Snacks on board
Tried the on board WiFi entertainment and it worked very well. The flight map was a very good touch. They had an excellent selection of media available and it all worked seamlessly well.
Exiting the aircraft
Watched a couple of Family guy episodes and an hour literally flew by.
Once landed, disembarkation and bags collection was quick and we were out in around 20 minutes.
Bag collection Verdict
Second time on Westjet and once again a good offering from WestJet. Good crew and excellent ground staff along with fantastic on-board entertainment.
This is the last time on WestJet for this trip, but looking forward to our future travels on Westjet
