Introduction

This trip report is of flight in 2010. I was travelling to Singapore.Had many options to fly direct from Sydney after searching found Qantas cheapest due to arrival time and fare.

Routing was Sydney - Brisbane - Singapore.

Check-In

Took a taxi to airport and arrived at the Qantas Terminal 3. First leg of the trip was on domestic sector. Qantas has self-check kiosk, couldn't use it as I had to check my bag all the way to Singapore.

Thanks for this trip report, even if the events took place almost eight years ago. Really, a very pleasant trip back in time.

Your pictures and careful reporting made me feel vicariously as if I had been there!

I've flown SYD-BNE before, but never on the 767. Once on a BAe 146, once on a 737.

My last flight on a QF 767 was in 1997 SYD-KIX, and it was most enjoyable in my Coach seat in a window on the right hand side, near the very back, and no-one next to me. One thing that I particularly remember is that the seat covers back then were blue / green with roses embroidered, which I thought lovely. When did Qantas change from them to the current bland Coach seat covers?

Thanks also for including the pic of the two UA 747s awaiting their respective trips to SFO and LAX -- sad that that era is over, with now only UA 789s showing up. Hopefully they will bring the 77W to SYD at some point soon.

Cheers!

Thanks for this historical trip report. any things still similar, but 763s now long gone, even though the first 762 naming flight seems like yesterday.

As for the seat covers, they were a low cost, late operational life refresh - maybe 2008 or 2009.

Alas, this report is so far in the past now that that style of seat cover has pretty much been and gone!
(it's still about, but a much-less-bland style has replaced it for new deliveries and refurbs)

Strange to think though that it's been quite a while too since the 767s were withdrawn - December 2014, specifically, though they'd been phased out in small numbers over the preceding the months and the seven -336ERs went even earlier.

I went out of my way to see them off with a MEL-SYD-BNE-SYD-MEL trip in September that was all 767 except for BNE-SYD being a 744ER, and a quick little MEL-SYD return day-trip on 23 Dec because some award seats were left, so thanks for the memories!
