That was a nice report, good choice of mix between pictures from the flights and from the destinations with short but descriptive texts.
Thank you!
I guess you had a very nice experience.

Thanks. I am glad the pictures worked for you. I noticed that if I use Firefox they don't work but they seem to work if you use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. We got hooked on Business. I only fly economy. We liked everywhere we went. Not so much Bangkok though. Wish we could do it more often. LOL.

Now what is weird is that it only works on Microsoft Edge. It no longer seems to be working on Google Chrome.

I appreciate you telling me that you can see the pictures. They worked on another site. Even if one person can see them it would be good news. It took me so long to download the pictures that it would be frustrating if they would not come out. I have never heard of Opera. Interesting. Have you written a trip report and if so from where do you download the pictures? Thanks again for telling me.

Firstly I have to say. I have known you on this site for years and never realized you were ......a woman!! Sometimes your posts would make me think you were an overly cautious man, but now it makes sense :).

Now to the report. In fact I don't see too many reports from you so nice to see the blockbuster around the world. Wow I would like to do something like this in Business. So envious you flew on the Etihad A380 and that too in Business. Cathay seems delightful too.

I would never put my sandwiches directly on that fold down tray. The Etihad Snack bag is getting to be boring. They need to change those sandwiches.

Thanks for sharing. I know I should count but roughly how many miles did you use in total. And you seem to have booked these in segments. I think that short flight on Oman Air wa's 15,000 points not 15,0000 :)

LOL no I am a man. That was my travelling companion (TC).
First I am glad you could see the pictures. I survived the bacteria of the sandwich on the tray. You are right. I read that those tray tables are full of bacteria. Must be careful next time.

In the US it is easier to collect lot's of points than in Europe with credit cards. Often you can get 50,000 miles just to join; double miles for hotels. Some offer triple miles. About 10 years ago British Airways gave 100,000 points for a credit card. Not as generous anymore. We each used our own points. So these were for each of us: Until now I have only used points for economy. I thought it would be a waste to fly Business. We flew to South Africa in economy from New York (14 hours) and after 7 hours my TC said "we should have flown Business.". On that trip we used 80,000 United miles on South African. Business would have been 160,000; a lot more. It was somewhat bearable as the legroom was 33".

It's not easy to get Business seats. I had to book economy for NY to Abu Dhabi and upgraded only 1 week before departure. I tried First. Very difficult. There was 1 seat on a different flight time. Abu Dhabi to Bangkok was easy. Hong Kong to New York I booked United economy and 2 days before we left I miraculously found Business Cathay on British Airways Avios. So I cancelled United and had to pay $75 I think to put my miles back.

American Airlines Points

New York to Abu Dhabi: 75,000 (Business)
Muscat to Abu Dhabi: 15,000 (Economy)
Abu Dhabi to Bangkok: 30,000 (business)
Total 120,000 miles

United Airlines

Phuket to Hong Kong: 17,500 (I think). It was not much. We saved about $300.

British Airways Avios

Hong Kong to New York: 110,000 (Business) I forget if it was 105,000 or 110,000.Only $50 tax. No crazy fuel surcharges BA add on for their flights. Alaska offer the same for only 55,000 points but I wanted to use my British Airways points. A year ago they were stolen / my account was hacked and used for hotels in Hungary. Fortunately I caught this about 3 days after it happened!

Total miles trip: 237,500 miles

We paid about $80 for Oman Air one way from Khasab to Muscat. And $100 one way from Bangkok to Phuket. Taxes on the Award tickets were about $100.

Wow, awesome report! Really enjoyed it!
I lived in the UAE before so its always lovely to see it again. In fact I was just staying at the Walforf Astoria in RAK last August! Still have yet to travel to Oman though.
The flights and the hotels look incredible! I wish I could afford to stay in such beautiful hotels one day...

I had no idea Bangkok Airways had a lounge for Y class! Now I really regret choosing TG on my flight to BKG 2 years ago :(

[quote="PerfectGriffin"]Wow, awesome report! Really enjoyed it!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for the feedback. TG offered the most expensive fare with the highest baggage allowance between Bangkok and Phuket; Air Asia the cheapest. But I don't feel comfortable with them based on their safety record. Bangkok was in the middle. I was shocked when they told us to go to the lounge. I told the Agent ....."but we are not flying Business Class!" Well they have 2 lounges; one for economy and the other for Business.

Oman is beautiful; mountains and ocean. The hotel in Khasab was not expensive. There are 3 Shangri La hotels in Muscat right next to each other. The Al Husn is expensive but the other 2 are cheaper. The end one on the beach is the cheapest and it was also nice.
