LHR > MAD > LHR on the new BA A350-1000

Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:15 pm

For me the day had finally arrived ! A new aircraft with new on board product. The much anticipated Club World Suite was here on the A351 and flying, for crew familiarisation, to Madrid. Flights were booked somewhat hopefully (based on the knowledge of another forum) as upto three days before was still showing A321. Finally the A350 seat map kicked in an now quietly confident we were on our way. Had booked out in Y and back in J, back to backing at MAD on 07AUG, BA464/465.

Arrived at the gate to be greeted by a very nice site :

The mask does look great :

Finally on board, it was time to look around.

Bathroom as expected and as it should be, new, clean, functional.

It was time for some Big Bang Theory & a Speedbird.

Screens are bigger with good quality picture & plenty of content :

Landed Madrid after a couple of hours, a quick turnaround and now to the main event. It was time to try the new Club Suite. First impressions were all good !

A slight panic upon looking at the screen upon board : LHR > JNB ?? WHAT !!. Just a glitch I was told.

I have to say this is a very nice seat. Its padded nicely, was very comfortable seated, reclined and flat (Sorry no picture). The screen was big, clear and great content. On board pillows very soft and comfy also. It may look a bit like a coffin for your feet once reclined but it really wasn't - plenty of room to move your feet around. Obviously its beats the current CW offerings and will be the way forward for BA as it slowly rolls out across the fleet. Friends tell me this is no Qatar Q Suite but is not a million miles away. Absolutely loved this afternoon out trying the new product - just need to book a long haul now !! Cheers !

Thanks for the report.

I do have to say that i find the interior very very bland and grey. Could have given some more "personal" tocuhes, it looks very generic now.

I like the looks of the new CW product that is slowly being rolled out. BTW, how is the Speedbird IPA?

Yes I know what you mean. Some would say bland, some you say classy. When the blue mood lighting is on it does actually look quite nice I think ! Would prefer this over a certain middle east carriers gold, wood type of fitings !

Yes I liked the seat. Would like to try long haul soon ! The Speedbird for me is really nice. Quite complex - slightly flowery & Grapefruity - lovely !

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing.

Didn’t manage to catch the first round of MAD flights on the 350, but am booked on an October one, looking forward to it.

Cheers
