They made multiple announcements during boarding that they were trying to get this flight out early. Boarding finished and we pushed back about 10 minutes early. Once the engines were started, we had quick taxi to 7L, and took at our scheduled departure time of 1259am.

Final 30L

This was the shortest redeye I have been on. Flying time was just under 2 and a half hours. In first class the FA’s came through with drinks and a snack basket shortly after takeoff. They also came through periodically to refill drinks. About 20 minutes before landing we began our descent, the CA made an announcement that the weather in MSP was 5 degrees with gusty winds and clouds. We touched down on 30L at 420am, 40 minutes ahead of schedule. We were one of the first arrivals into MSP, the airport was empty as I headed over to the gate were my LGA flight would be leaving from. The flight was scheduled to depart at 6:50am, however there was snow and wind in NY, and all 3 NY airports (JFK, LGA and EWR) were experiencing delays. We had an EDCT time, and the CA made an announcement in the gate area that we would also need to be deiced. He said we would be departing the gate around 8:00 am 1 hour and 10 minutes late, and then we would get deiced. He was anticipating us taking off around 830am.

We pushed back, and started the engines. The flight was pretty full, the middle seat in my row was one of the few empty seats. We taxied to the deice pad where we got sprayed. We took off at 8:26am, 1 hour and 36 minutes late. It was a bumpy climb, and eventually we leveled off at 35,000 ft. It eventually smoothed out, and the flight went by fast. We started out descent into an overcast NY, about 25 minutes before landing. We descended through multiple cloud layers before breaking out, on final for runway 4. After a firm touchdown and hard breaking we taxied to gate C23. The terminal was packed with people. Almost every flight was delayed. On the board with connecting flights out of about 25 flights, only 1 was leaving on time.

N357NW at C23, getting ready to depart to TPA

I had a few hours before my JetBlue flight. I decided to spend a little in the DL terminal before heading over to the B6 terminal. I got a notification that my flight to FLL was delayed about 1 hour. I eventually made my way to the curb, and got on the bus over to Terminal A. I printed out my boarding pass and headed up to the gate, where I waited until they started boarding the FLL flight.

Taxing to runway 31

Takeoff was powerful, with a completely full flight down to Florida. We took off runway 31 at 4:27pm. After initially making a right turn, we eventually made a left turn to the south and climbed up to 36,000 ft just to the west of Manhattan. Shortly after takeoff the FA’s started the service. There were two services on the flight down. The Wi-Fi was not working, nor was my TV. I took a nap, and watched the sunset as we made out way down the east coast towards FLL. It was a nice evening in south Florida as we began our descent. We descended over the coast before making a left downwind for runway 10L. We made a smooth touchdown at 6:51PM. As we taxied into the gate, we came to a stop and sat for about 5 minutes. The CA eventually made an announcement that there was a technical issue with the jetway we were supposed to arrive at, and they were trying to find us a new gate. We then taxied to an area on the other side of the airport to wait. The CA made another announcement that we would be arriving at gate F5, and there was an airplane at that gate that would be departing in about 20 minutes. Around the time the CA said the aircraft would be departing, he came back on and said that plane was having a small technical issue and would still be a little bit before it pushed back. He also mentioned that there were no other gates available. At this point there were several people going to Quito, Ecuador whose flight was supposed to be leaving in 15 minutes. The flight attendant said that they had probably already closed that flight, and would not make their connection. Several of the people started yelling at the flight attendants that they needed to hold the plane. It took 3 flight attendants to calm them down. We eventually got to the gate at 7:41pm, 50 minutes after we landed.

Touchdown

Parked at gate F5 my plane to PHX, arriving from PVD

Since we were delayed leaving LGA and then sat for 50 minutes once we landed, by the time I deplaned and got to my next gate they were already boarding the PHX flight.

This flight was not full, and there were lots of open seats. Boarding was completed, and we pushed back from the gate about 5 minutes ahead of schedule. We taxied to 10R behind an NK A321. We took off at 8:56pm and turned north before making a turn to west, and climbing up to our cruising altitude. Besides some turbulence near the Texas/New Mexico border, it was a smooth and pretty routine flight. The FA’s did two services with drinks and snacks. We eventually started our descent down into PHX about 20 minutes before landing. We arrived from the southeast on the PINNG1 arrival. We made a right turn to line up for 7R. We touched down at 11:50pm. After a short taxi we arrived at gate F3 a few minutes later, 23 hours after I had left.
