Phoenix - Seattle on Delta and Alaska

Fri Jan 17, 2020 7:47 pm

I was going to be a little short in qualifying for elite status on DL. I decided to take an extra flight to make sure I qualified. I originally had a flight on another airline, booked to DEN. Then DEN-SEA on DL. My flight ended up being delayed, and I would have missed the DL flight. After calling DL, I got rebooked to SEA from PHX.

It was a full flight to SLC. Once everyone had boarded, we sat for about 10 minutes before the door was closed. We pushed back a few minutes before our departure time of 7:00am. Once the engines were started, we began our taxi to 7L behind a few AA A321’s.

Taxing to 7L next to an HA A330 being towed to the gate, for its 8:30am departure to HNL.

We taxied on to 7L, and began our takeoff roll. Once we were in the air, and after a turn to the north we climbed up to 34,000ft. Once we leveled off, the flight attendants came through with juice, coffee or water, as well as a few snacks.

There were not any planes in front of us, so we did not have to wait at all. We taxied right onto runway 34L without stopping, and began our takeoff roll. As soon as we were in the air, we made a left turn and climbed up to FL360.

It was a smooth flight, until we started the descent into SEA.

Once everyone had boarded, the door was closed and we pushed back. It was a quick taxi to runway 16L. After waiting for a few airplanes ahead of us to takeoff, we took the runway for takeoff. After takeoff, we flew directly south and climbed to 17,000ft. The flight attendants came through with drinks, and Biscoff cookies. It was a really quick flight. By the time the service was done, we were descending into PDX.

My second time flying N320AS, and on the same route PDX-PHX

The plane was coming from ORD. The inbound flight had a medical situation. An ambulance had to meet the plane at the gate. It took about 15 minutes after the plane arrived at the gate for the ambulance to leave, and people to start deplaning.

The captain made an announcement, that there was some frost on the wings. We would need to be deiced. Once everyone had boarded and the door was closed, we pushed back a little. Then some deicing trucks came and sprayed us. It took about 15 minutes. After this, we continued the pushed back and the engines were started. A few minutes later, we started our taxi to runway 10L for a full length departure.
