MCO daytrip jetBlue, United & American (A320, 737 & E-175)

Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:54 pm

About a month ago I was looking at flights, and came across some flights to Florida for $25. I had not flown SYR-MCO, in 7 years. This was also my third time in 2020 flying the jetBlue A320 at SYR. Usually they fly the E190 to SYR. On the day of the flight, I got to the airport a little over an hour before my flight.

Finally starting to see more flights on the board

N507JT spent the night at gate 3. It flew up the night before from Orlando

The flight down to Orlando, was not full. Boarding only took about 15 minutes, and the door was closed a few minutes before 8:00am. The captain welcomed us aboard, and gave us the details of our flight down the east coast. It was a nice morning for flying, and he was anticipating a smooth ride. We pushed back at 7:58am, 2 minutes ahead of our scheduled departure time. A few minutes later we taxied to runway 28, behind a CRJ-200 to IAD

We spent most of the flight at 34,000ft. Just like the captain said, it was a smooth ride down the east coast. The flight attendants came through with drinks and snacks. It was the first flight I have been on since March, that a normal service was done. The last several flights I have been on either had no service, or pre packaged bags.

After deplaning, I took the train over to the United terminal. I had around an hour and a half until my next flight

Before we pushed back the flight attendants made an announcement. They said this was the first flight for United, from MCO to BOS. They welcomed everyone on board the inaugural flight. We pushed back from the gate 10 minutes early

Pushed back with the A320 I flew down from SYR, taking off to EWR

We climbed up to 33,000ft, and then 37,000ft over South Carolina. Unlike on the flight down, there was turbulence on this flight. Over southern New Jersey it got really bumpy. The captain told the flight attendants to take their seats. He then raised the spoilers, to slow down. This was the first flight I had ever been on, where the pilots raised the spoilers during cruise. It started to smooth out, once we started the descent.

Final 22L

It was a hard touchdown, with heavy braking

Image

It was a quick taxi to gate B24. The plane spent a little while on the ground, before its last flight of the day. It was going back down to Newark

Image

The plane for my next flight, had gotten a little bit of a late start leaving from Charlotte. The plane landed at 3:45pm, 45 minutes before we were scheduled to depart. It was going to be a quick turn. Boarding was rushed, and we ended up pushing back 7 minutes late.

N930NN
Seat 22A

On this flight they did not do any service “for the safety of everyone on board”. The flight attendants came through periodically to collect any trash. We flew over New York and Philly. It was a nice sunset and by the time it was dark out, we were starting the descent

Final 36R

Image

It was a hard touchdown. As we exited the runway, we came to a stop. There were a lot of planes taxiing, as well as trying to get in and out of the ramp. It was about 15 minutes before we pulled into the gate

Image

Pulling into the gate next to N107US getting ready to depart to Pittsburgh

N930NN spent two days in Charlotte, before flying to Denver

Image

My last flight of the day was on an E-175. Usually the SYR-CLT flights are mainline. There was only one other time I had flown an E-175 on this route. It was 5 years ago, back in 2015. It had been a while since I had flown on an Embraer, so I was looking forward to something a little different.

American Eagle “Republic” 4873
Charlotte, NC (CLT) – Syracuse, NY (SYR)
Embraer E-175
N412YX
Seat 17A
Scheduled Departure Time – 8:20pm
Actual Departure Time- 8:28pm
Scheduled Arrival Time – 10:12pm
Actual Arrival Time- 9:56pm
1 hour 28 minutes

Boarding

Image

17A, next to N135HQ following us up to New York, but going to Buffalo

Image

We pushed back from the gate a few minutes early, and the engines were quickly started. Despite a lot of other flights departing, it was a relative quick taxi

Image

Climbing out of CLT, on the KRITR5 departure

Image

We quickly climbed up to 33,000ft. Just like on the first flight, there was not any service done. This flight also passed quickly, and it was smooth flight all the way up. Just after crossing from Pennsylvania into New York, we started descending

Final runway 28

Image

Taxiing into the gate, next to N590JB that had arrived from Orlando. It flew the same flight the next morning, that I had flown down to Orlando 14 hours earlier.

N412YX at gate 8. It spent the night, before flying back down to Charlotte early the next morning
