viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1457941I started this part of the journey at Addis Ababa airport after arriving from Kilimanjaro on the new 787-9. Addis airport is always crowded but today, there was an air of excitement as Nigeria, the only African team left in the FIFA world cup was playing Argentina for a place in the knockout stages so everyone was in a festive mood. That changed when Nigeria lost but it was an interesting experience nevertheless. The airport itself was chaotic and claustrophobic and almost every gate is a bus gate which isn't very nice when your flight leaves late at night.
When we finally got to the plane, we had to wait another 2 hours because transfer passengers were late and we had to wait for them. I fell asleep due to the ungodly hour but when I woke up, we were on the runway ready for departure. After takeoff, dinner was served but due to the delay, it was served at 2 am local time which was weird but I cleared the plate because I didn't eat anything before. I fell asleep right after and woke up to beautiful sunrise over the Arabian sea. I was glued to the window until before I knew it, we were descending already.
Link to full, unedited landing:https://youtu.be/niowkr4oi4cI had an onward connection on a separate ticket to Bengaluru after this flight and I thought a 3-hour window would be enough but the 2-hour delay made it very tight. I thankfully managed to clear immigration, correct my bags and check-in for the next flight with 2 minutes to spare. Other passengers on ET 610 with onward connections weren't as lucky as me.
This was a generally uneventful flight but the experience in Addis Ababa airport and the substantial delay really let me down. Throughout this trip, I have had positive experiences with ET and this is my first negative one. It shows that ET still has a long way to go in terms of consistency but they're definitely on the right track.
Thanks for reading/watching! Would love to hear any feedback!
