Date: July 15th, 2019 Video Link: https://youtu.be/k-yv44afD98This flight was before the pandemic in July 2019.
It was the day after the greatest Cricket World Cup final the world had ever witnessed and I had just landed from Bangalore on a 777-300ER with the older cabin.
I had a 3-hour layover in DXB before I had to catch my connection to Geneva. Coincidentally, this flight had been one of the first to receive the new product with the upgraded economy seats and lie-flat Business seats. Probably due to the high premium demand to Geneva being a financial hub.
We boarded on time and the load factor was surprisingly low, around 50% full, in Economy which meant there was more than enough space for everyone to spread out and enjoy their own personal row. The new seat was impressive with the soothing new color scheme, a plethora of power outlets, and gigantic screen.
Takeoff was no time and we enjoyed the usual great view of the Dubai skyline and the islands off the coast. Lunch was served soon after and I ordered the Asian Vegetarian meal as always and it was pretty comprehensive. The main was rice with Daal and okra curry. The sides were a bun, cheese and crackers, and an Indian dessert. Emirates always caters high-quality Indian food and this was no exception. The quality and quantity were impressive for a flight this length. After lunch, I decided to find a row for myself and have a nap. The only upside to the tight 3-4-3 configuration is that if the flight goes out empty, you can get enough space to create your own lie-flat bed in economy!
I had a good sleep and woke up a few hours later as we commenced our alps crossing. A pre-landing snack was served which consisted of popcorn and a kit-kat bar. I was served a full meal a few years ago when I few EK from Dubai to Munich on the A380 on a flight of similar length. I'd heard about EK's recent cost-cutting and this was an instance of it. The report of that flight can be found here:

https://youtu.be/iOQLmWCa7B0Overall, this flight matched my expectations. The catering was up to a high standard despite the cost-cutting and the crew was excellent. There was a mother flying alone with two children and the FAs proactively helped her out throughout the flight and made life a lot easier for her. They were also proactive in making drink and snack rounds and responded quickly to the call button. Convenience was also a big factor in choosing this flight. This was the most convenient option between India and Geneva with other options having inconvenient connections or high prices.
I would definitely fly emirates again especially if it's on their new product.
Thanks for reading I'd love to hear your feedback!
