This is the second part of a trip from San Francisco, CA to Bengaluru, IN via Dubai.

After landing in Dubai from SFO, I made a beeline to the famous Emirates business lounge at terminal 3. Lounge check-in was quick and I was amazed at the scale of the lounge. It spanned almost half the length of the biggest terminal in the world and had a plethora of food and drink options to choose from. There was an open bar and buffet stations for each type of cuisine ranging from middle eastern and Indian to Asian western and even a dessert bar. There was seating as far as the eye could see with sleeping recliners, sofas and dining tables. My favourite part was the shower lounges as I felt refreshed after a marathon 16-hour flight from SFO.

I left after about 2 hours to make it in time for priority boarding and got on our 10-year-old 77W. Our plane was a 2011-built 777-300ER with the old business product. It still had the ancient angled flat seats although it still had the gimmicky touchscreen tablet to control the IFE similar to the current iteration of the seat. The seat was decent for a 3.5-hour flight with ICE entertainment, decent storage and a good recline. The seat did show its age even though it looked clean as the armrest and the tray table seemed flimsy.

The crew offered me champagne as a welcome drink before we pushed back for an on-time departure. The departure offered spectacular views of Dubai at night as we took off towards the gulf before doing a 180 and heading southeast towards south India.

Warm nuts and a choice of drink were served after takeoff quickly followed by dinner. There were 3 options for dinner of which one of them was vegetarian which I opted for. This time, the meal was served on a single tray as this was a short red-eye and it was important to maximize sleep. I had the Arabic mezze, a Paneer dish as the main and the cheese board. The quality was very good and was happy to finish the meal quickly and get some shut-eye.

I watched some episodes of the flight attendant before taking a quick nap prior to landing.

Despite the angled flat seat of yesteryear, Emirates makes up for it with amazing catering and service. Although the food was served on a tray, it was done for a reason and tasted really good. The FAs were attentive and proactive in offering drinks and snacks, cleaning up, and ensuring everyone's comfort. Although the hard product is dated, it was more than enough for this short flight and EK made this brutal short red-eye a pleasant experience. Definitely, the best way to get from Dubai to India.

Thanks for reading/watching. I would love to hear your feedback.
