Another great TR of this flight.. Man most of us would die to be on Business for even one of those sectors! Does economy have the same screen before takeoff telling you what seat it is? It's pretty cool! Did anyone get to visit the cockpit at any time before or after the flight?
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

So I was probably standing in that god damn awfully long customs queue with you

Hi Ansett767,

Thanks for reading and for your comments.

The queue that day was insane! However, i got stuck at the immigration line. By the time i got to customs, the queue hadnt formed yet.

Quoting Airbus767 (Reply 49):
BTW I was wondering, what exactly would one do if you're in the shower and the seat belt sign comes on... it could happen

Hi Airbus767,

Thanks for reading. Greatly appreciated!

Good question you raised. But i dont know hehe. I can tell you that at one point when i was at the bar, the seatbelt sign went on as we hit some very brief, and mild turbulence. However, no one asked us to sit, and the party continued  Smile

Hi NZ107,

Thanks for reading!  Smile

Yes Economy does have the same welcome screen on the IFE.
We wanted to visit the cockpit, but we didnt make an attempt at it as we figured they wouldnt let us anyway. Should have at least tried though!

Hi Maxisno1,

Thanks a lot for reading.

The stars are still there, but they were only activated for a short period, or so at least i noticed. Also, when they were activated, they reminded me of the stars in Y class on the A345, which isn't anything special.

Perhaps in F they have a better view of the stars

Oh okay, I always did like those stars.

PS - Is it just me or is the sound missing from your videos?

Cheers,
Max

EDIT: Nevermind was just a Firefox problem. Great videos!  Smile

Roni ,

Where to start the appreciation from,

The pictures made us believe we were there, especially those of the food felt like you just wanted to take a bite off it.

It seems you and Mark had a blast , one thing how much did you guys sleep after your respective trecks,

Thanks for keeping us entertained and taking the time and effort to write the reports, much appreciated,

What was in the goody bags,

And try and remember your conversation with Clark himeself,

Looks like a gorgeous fortress! I hope to someday be able to fly on her.

Anyone notice the spelling error on the "Duty Free' sign that was posted in the airport? There is a picture of it at the beginning of the trip report.

Find it, I dare you.  Smile

Cheers

Hi Roni,

it took a while to load all the pics, but it was worth waiting! Fantastic report about a special flight, well done. Business Class looks great, but the Economy cabin isn't bad either - looks very spacious. What I really like is the lighting in the cabin.

Now I'm curious about the model aircraft you got - is it registered A6-EDA like the original?  Wink

Roni, thank you for putting so much effort into this very long and detailed trip report. It was a joy to read and the pictures were beautiful.

I hope you had a great time during the flight, even if the festivities were not as grand as those of Singapore Airlines. The new Business Class looks stunning and your crew seemed very friendly too. Not bad for Emirates huh?

Thank you again for giving us a glimpse into the first A380 flight to the USA. Well done.

Roni, absolutely amazing report. I finally got some time to read it and all I can say is it is one of the best I have ever seen on this website. The aircraft really does look amazing and I can not wait to try it out some day. Who knows when that will be though.

Quoting Ronerone (Reply 1):
It was wider than Etihad's seat however, both are equally comfortable.

Good to hear as I came to the same conclusion regarding EY.

Quoting Ronerone (Reply 1):
This is a new service offering by Emirates, where meals are served during pre-set times, however you have more freedom and choice in choosing what to eat.

I see Emirates really has stepped up its game, good to see EK finally investing in the product somewhat. Also good to see you got a good set of crew both times.

It was also nice to see a picture of a KL plane at JFK...LOL  Wink Looking forward to your up coming EY TR.

Well, they definitely did for this flight, and perhaps this aircraft. However, once they have found the optimal fine-tuning, i hope it can be applied to their other flights as well.

Hi Roni,
I asked Mark a similar question on his trip report for this very DXB-JFK flight. Did you prefer seat 14K in the main business cabin or the bulkhead 23A in the smaller section on your return flight?
I'm flying out from out from Auckland to Amman in a week, AKL-DXB-AMM, and I'm currently booked in 20K on the A380 for the AKL-DXB leg. My options on the A380 are 16A, 20K or bulkhead 23K.

Regards,
Ahmed
