Hi all! I recently moved to Boston for the summer for an internship with the Red Sox. I was lucky (or unlucky?) enough to fly in first on AA's SAN-BOS non-stop. I apologize in advance, I did not get the reg # on the 757 I was on, forgive me!

side note: fellow a.netter XJRamper was booked on this flight with me, but due to extenuating circumstances couldn't make it. This one's for you Zach!



the massive amounts of luggage I checked. I had to declare excessive value, which cost me about $40. My mom was flying with me, so we were able to split up the amount of checked bags and didn't get charged.

We got through security fine, but since we were running late in general, we got to our gate as the first boarding group was called. The part of terminal 2 AA uses is laid out very weird, and the gate area was very small. Needless to say we got on board just fine.

it was a morning flight, so we had breakfast served. The menu was:

Both my mom and I had the eggs benedict, which was actually quite good. The muffin was really hard to cut through, but it wasn't really that bad. I believe the cereal they were serving with the other main course was Special K.

Meal service was good, and I ate my cookie before taking a picture of it, but it was incredible!!!

We hit some really bad storms over chicago and dropped from FL 370 to 280, but we got some gorgeous views of Niagara Falls.



My apologies, but I was unable to take any more pictures as I was holding on for dear life (I don't do well in turbulence).

We landed right on time in Boston, we were scheduled for an early arrival but the storms over chicago slowed us down. I saw almost all of the Euro's at their gates loading up for the hop over. I recall 2 Aer Lingus 330's, AF 747, LH 340 (I think), Iberia 340 and a BA 777 and 747.

I was not very impressed with AA's first class offering. Seeing as I had just recently flown VX in first, the bar was set pretty high. The food was good, service was just ok, and the cabin was really really old and outdated. IMO, not worth the money.

Hope you enjoyed, again sorry for the lack of pics at the end! I'll be flying VX in first BOS-LAX next month, so look out for a TR on that.

That'll be changed soon enough - the entire domestic 757 fleet is getting a new first class modification beginning later this year I think.

Its a shame that AA have those 80s Cabins for the 757s still kicking around.... but looks like the service was good.
Will be traveling on the AA 757s heading back home (from POS-GCM) and hope that my upgrades come through tho!! Still better than Y!


Good luck with the Internship tho at the Soxs! May I ask, if its not too personal, but what is sector is this in for the Soxs?
I like Boston every time i'm there so hope you have a good time over there! May be a bit colder tho than the Cali weather!!!

I'm jealous of the trip in F though. I've been in F on AA once, MIA-MCO on a A300 back in 2006 - not even a 30 minute flight in the air (Was a courtesy upgrade from the gate agent as I volunteered to bump if need be.) I haven't been able to snag an upgrade to F for a transcon though. I could careless about the food at service. At 6'4, I'd just love the extra legroom.

Enjoy BOS... I spent last summer there, a great city! And always nice to see a TR from my home airport of SAN. Interesting to see them preparing for the T2 expansion.

And I don't blame you for liking VX's F seat way more. I did SFO-LAX on them back in November 2007, it was a fantastic flight.

And finally... enjoy Fenway. I'm a Padres fan myself, but I knew living in BOS last year, I had to go to at least one game, and I got quite a treat! A rain delay (I hope you're not interning as a groundskeeper, I was NOT jealous of them working in the rain, but on the other hand, I've been a ramper, so I sympathize), but our game went into extras and finally Youkilis won the game with a walkoff home run in the 13th!

Not too personal, I am interning in the marketing group (actually called Fenway Sports Group) and hoping it leads to a job! While I love SD weather, I really would love to have some real seasons!

ahh yes how could I forget the FX jet?!?! I love when we get the MD-11's in on the weekends! Eggs surprisingly weren't that dry, and definitely hit the spot!

It's rare to see a SAN report on here, I try to do as many as I can. It's really great to see the preperation for T2 expansion, though I doubt i'll ever reap the benefits of it. Im definitely NOT agroundskeeper, haha, but I have all access to Fenway and it is such a great park. Very very different from good ol Petco!

Yes, that will be sweet. . . I think I read here on A.net ??? that they have done a couple birds already and have them on international service Maybe I am not remembering correctly. Anyway, their FC 757 cabin is so dated.

Figured I would.    Although my Uncle, who grew up watching Dimagio, Mantle, Maris, etc. married a Red Sox fan from Connecticut. You never know.   

While you're there though, ask them if they can point out the most famous spot in Fenway to ya - the spot where Bucky Dent's home run went over the wall. (My dad did this when we were taking one of the trolley tours. When we went by Fenway the driver asked "Can anyone tell me what the most famous spot in Fenway is?" and that was his answer. Then they played the audio clip of Carlton Fisk "waving it fair" to win Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. I shouted from the back "Gee, I believe the Cincinnati Reds still went on to win that World Series!"   

In all seriousness, congrats on the internship with an MLB team. I really am jealous. Can you get Ortiz's autograph for me?

Same here. There's a good chance my Air Force career as an engineer will take me through Hanscom AFB there in Boston.   Would be a nice change from the weather of Daytona Beach, FL.

Awesome report! For some reason I thought SAN-BOS was a 767, I can never tell who is flying what out of SAN these days.

God I miss SAN and I just flew out of there back in May, also in F Class haha! SAN-DFW however was the routing.

Yes I despise AA 757's for the reasons you specified however I get used to them, kind of have to when AA hubs at STL haha.

Hey Alex!! Yes, come back to chat and say hello! SAN-JFK is a 767, however they are downgrading to a 757, not sure when.

Preferably a ball. If I had a Boston Red Sox hat hanging around the house, even one signed by a player I very much respect, I think my dad would disown me.

Visited Boston for the first time back in June. We visited the Constitution, did the Freedom Trail, ate at Legal Seafood, passed by Fenway (I think the Sox were on the road while we were there). We also went up to Maine just to get a lobster dinner. Great town and great area.

Kinda sad to see the first class offering on a 6 hour flight from SAN to BOS (although you could have flown on B6, a great airline, but no first class at all), whilst on the 6 hour LHR-DXB run, you could find yourself in a posh A380 suite

If you're interested in the reg, you can get it at the BTS' website, although not for around two months after your flight has been completed. Still, better than nothing!

I enjoyed looking at your report, you know that when I fly, American is always my first choice, second choice is Delta. I fly American mostly, I must say it is quite a good airline.
You seem to have enjoyed the flight, I would have too, even if seated in Y Class. The eggs benedict you had certainly looks good, so does the muffin.

Don't worry, me too I also forget the reg on the aircraft sometimes. Thanks anyway for sharing with us your nice experience. One day in 2005 I was in SAN waiting for a flight to DFW, I started taking pictures of aircraft and wrote down some registrations when the security officers caught me. I said I was doing this to put the pictures on a web site.
What website? They asked.
I said airliners.net and myaviation.net (it's a site similar to airliners.net but they accept all the pictures).
They looked at my ID and let me go.

It was an impressive report. Shame that the cabin was so....awful looking. I truly hope you enjoyed your time in Boston. Its one of my favorite cities (besides the Red Sox part) and I'm sure you had an amazing time with your internship. Not to creep or anything, but you are most likely the best looking girl I've ever seen on A.net.....
