In this life, money means all, gives all and most of the time it makes people happy.

My dad used to be a pilot, small aircrafts only, but still, every weekend we were off, and flying is right now a real passion, an addiction!

When I was younger I didn’t care about lounge, comfort, you just want to eat the world. Then after countless TATL I got the highest status at 18 years old… then things were better, lounge, upgrade to business class… then worked very hard to pay for business, then I got upgraded to first class as well then you re done. Currently flying means First class, there no other way around.

My wife does not get me about flying in F class, she prefers cash (every women my bet), but what’s the point we can do both.

This trip is about the shares, the market, the summer slumped in 2011 helped me a lot to stack up a huge amount of shares, and thanks to the market, I’ve paid this trip and others already booked.

Am I cynic? Maybe, the outcome is the only thing that matter to me.

The purpose of this trip: I’ve quit my job and before starting to a very well known French bank (with a pay rise at 19%...) I thought it was time to pamper myself with

Back on the RTW.

This trip will highlight my beloved BA First Suite, the SQ First class know as a Class beyond first, CX First Suite and KL in business class.

Part 1:

When I purchased the tickets, I did not tell to my wife, I knew it would have been a problem, weeks went by, I was running out of time to tell here. Damn it ! I had to figure a way out. Flying for work on vacation, she won’t swallow it, then I went nasty, honey my dad had a car crash… I didn’t feel proud about it, but really had no choice. Called my dad… and he had to lie…

My wife does not know anything about tickets, fares. It helps…

I’m relieved. I can go !

Flew from paris, the plane was at the end, it took me ages to reach the CCR. The security control is one on the weakest point. Too slow. Then for lunch I went for the burger. Good, but not so healthy.. Why do I care, my devil, sorry, wife keep saying I need to go on diet !

The flight :

Boarding was a bit delayed, a very warm welcome upon entrance, then was shown to my seat.

Having a flight to HND to HKG with CX in F, I would have loved to take the flight to HND instead, but leaving at 8am, it no way possible to make a connection from france (MRS)

I won’t present the seat one more time, confy, a bit narrow for a fat man like me… The cabin is so classy, I love the british sytle, elegant but not too flashy like EK.
The Video screen is not bad, but not on par with SQ.

Despite BA is not well known regarding the catering. I was good. LX, LH are miles ahead.

I’m sorry for the pictures, they might be blurry, for four hours the turbulences were in the air, disturbing us !

I went for a diet coke as always, warm nuts, for the stater I went for the Japanese one, It was good, but It’s not my taste. Then the main I picked the beef, a good choice. Tender, Pink inside, sauce perfect. I want more !

At this stage I was to full for a dessert, so I only had fruits. Then I had a good night sleep. For the beakfast I took the classic.

It's a nice trip report but you've got serious issues if you've had to lie to your wife to travel like this. I hope you're not one of those guys always sitting up in F looking at Y with an air of disdain...

I don't agree with you. I find that people who have been successful and made a lot of money fall into one of two groups. Either they try to make sure that they never want for anything again and as a result HATE spending money. Or they spend their time looking for things to buy or experiences in the hope that it will make them happy. The happiest people I have ever met live in a remote village in Malawi. Their homes are mud huts without electricity or running water. They don't expect to make it to their 40th birthday Somehow they seam to be happy and content with life in a way that most people in the developed world are not. Thats why I believe that money does not = happiness.

Just in case this reads like sour grapes. I should explain that I don't expect that I am as wealthy as you, but I am 37 and retired 5 years ago. Oh and I'm in the second group of people above...but trying not to be!

The yied of my investment. It would have been a mistake to pay cash. Took a flat a 3% with insurance, and during the last big crisis in 2008 I bought some shares that have been killed, at this time the yield was about 18%.... Do the math...

I must say as a Englishman your preamble does not sit well with me, but I'll put that down to the cultural differences between us.

What does worry me more though is that you lie to your wife. But then again, that is your business and absolutely none of mine, so I will make no further comment.

Interesting read about BA first and I must agree with you, their food service seems to be lacking a bit. Champagne and vines seem good though  

Some of the comments made by other members here are a obously driven by jealosy, and quite frankly rather rude and childish. Others does have a point about what you had your father do...

None of my business what you do to get things done, but when you lie about things like a car crash at someone else's expense, it pretty sad! Well at least you didn't feel proud about it, but not sure if that is a consolation for your readers....I totally skipped reading the rest of your report.

Also words spoken can come true even if not meant, and sadly should that happen, then the money that supposedly brings you happiness will not be of any use to you at the time.

Wow. Errrm? Where do you start here?

It's a shame really as this has the makings of a REALLY interesting report in the surroundings that some of us may never get to taste. For sure the more glamorous way to fly. Instead, you immediately turn people against you with talk of money and high class opinions that 95% of the modern worlds population find cringeworthy.

Listen, if you are driven to be financially successful and you are seeing the benefits of hard work then fair play to you, just understand that if you like to gloat about your position people will respond in a negative way for a number of different reasons. You say you are so passionate about flying, but I say flying long haul F "all the time" it's not very hard to be passionate about that is it? Try doing 20k miles in Y in 5 days just because this flying bug has a grip on you and see if you still enjoy the CORE aspects of being in a tin can at 35 thousand feet and not just enjoying the luxury service and attention of F.

When all is said and done, I will still look for the next part of your report as I enjoyed the pictures.

Interesting set of comments.

As far as the trip report goes, BA F looks good, and the food in the CCR in LHR looks great (far better than the Club lounge!). Hopeing for a trip in F sometime (although I think it may be a while! (I do have LX F booked though for next year!)

Whilst it probably would have been best for the first few paragraphs not to have been written, I think quite a few of the other comments were a bit harsh (although I can see where they come from). Probably best next time to stay on the safer subject of planes

We all have been raised by our parents, the country does a lot too. Your friend, your job.

Just wanted to share a part of my life.

I'm not a dad'son who s enjoying dad's money, am I working with him, no.

I made my situation with my workaholic spirit, and never gave up until I reached my goal. I owe my life to nobody, only myself! For The past seven years, I did not stop, no vacation, only week end.

Before throwing away on my face, relax, what I've done, we all can do, matter of willingness.

For those who have seen the devil wears prada, Meryll Strip says : You want this life, those choices are necessary ! And she is damn right !

You have the option is this life, fighting for your dreams, or you just can lay down on your coach and complain. I took the first option !

I made money thanks to the market, well, do it as well, it's a free market.

Am I rich, no.

Why do I have to lie, try to be with someone who does not get your passion, try to be with someone who does not even care about flying. We are at the opposite, but we do love each other. Am I freak, maybe. Do I need a shrink, so far, no but thanks for caring.

Now be sure I will stick with planes pics and catering, no more, no less, two months ago, you have seen my wife and I on our way to HKG. Wanted to improve the report.

Well...

On the one hand the new BA F product looks amazing, thank you for the pics.

On the other hand your written report was disgustingly arrogant, a sign of someone with a syndrome similar to those guys who have to drive big, lifted trucks (like the ones you may see in Ontario, which leads me to wonder why that is your location if you are so rich; not to be biased but Ontario's kind of an armpit)...I'm not even going to say anymore...
