RE: Cathay Pacific AMS-HKG: An Upper Deck Experience

Fri Apr 13, 2012 5:54 pm

Hi Suryo,

What a nice trip report of yours there on the upper deck experience on CX. All of the detail in the report is nice. Especially as that carrier is still on my "to be flown" list. Would be nice to do it in business class, as you were able to.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
What do you think if you can meet your A.net mates while going on holiday?

Definitely that is the way to do it, always nice to meet up with friends like that.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1):
Espresso for me and regular coffee for Herman

Looks really nice. A good "pre lounge" drink.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 1):
What about this overview of our gate?

Wow, that is a nice gate/holding area there. The colors and style must have prepared you well for the flight to come.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 3):
I was flabbergasted as the curtain got abruptly closed again.
‘This cannot be true. Ariel, did you hear what she said? Ariel? Ariel?’
I got no reply.
’What is going on here? This is so unreal! I am having a bad dream! This must be a bad dream!’

It's unbeleivable (in a bad way) that they would talk to a passenger that way. Even if this is their policy, there has to be a better/more professional way to inform you. And you were in Buss Class too! At least it seems you were able to get over it, and it did not ruin the rest of your upper deck experience.

Thanks again for the report. I need to try them myself also sometime.

Dear Atthaphon, 717Flyer, Win, Martijn, Nils, Gabriel, Anosh, D.,,

Thank you so much for your replies. You really make me happy.

Atthaphon, 717Flyer, Win, Martijn, Gabriel, Anosh, D.:

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
What a beautiful trip report. I enjoy following and reading the details.
Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Opening this thread I was very much looking forward to reading your Cathay Pacific experience. But what caught my attention in the end was that you did it again!
Quoting win1290 (Reply 45):
Thanks for the amazing trip report with amazing photos, I was really enjoyed reading it!
Quoting CrimsonNL (Reply 46):
Heya Suryo, great report as expected!
Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Wonderful report Suryo!
Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
Fantastic trip report as always. As you know I have been looking forward to this one from you for quite some time and it did not disappoint.
Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
What a nice trip report of yours there on the upper deck experience on CX. All of the detail in the report is nice.

Thank you. I am very happy to hear that.

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
Many thanks for sharing,
Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Thank you for taking us with you on this wonderful journey!
Quoting win1290 (Reply 45):
Thanks again for taking wonderful pictures and writing this up!
Quoting CrimsonNL (Reply 46):
Great to see some impressions of the service to HKG. Thanks for sharing!
Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
Thanks again for the report.

You are welcome.

Atthaphon, 717Flyer, Nils:

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
Best presentations, clear hi-def pictures with real professionalism as a reviewer.
Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
You captured the moment and shared with us in a way no one else can do - an amazing read I must say - accompanied by excellent commentary and many nice pictures. Yeah, it can't get any better!
Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Well if that is the case then it certainly isn't very easy to find.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
Yes, the 'akhmad' is back with a vengeance! Wow, what a lovely romantic and poetic story, it's like a work of art

I am truly honored by your kind words.

Atthaphon, Martijn:

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
I still love the upper deck of 747, such a small cozy place to be!!
Quoting CrimsonNL (Reply 46):
Lucky you flying the rare RR powered 744, and on the upperdeck as well!

Indeed, flying upper deck of RR powered 744 is a special experience.

Atthaphon, D.:

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
I'm sure you had great experience on this CX service.
Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
At least it seems you were able to get over it, and it did not ruin the rest of your upper deck experience.

Thanks to Nimi, Yuko, Natsuko and Joy.

717Flyer, Nils:

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
I still can't get used to the shape and the position of the seat.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
One thing that I maybe wouldn't like is the herringbone seating arrangement. How did you like that?

The seat was alright. The only drawback was the window position.

717Flyer, Anosh:

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Now I am eagerly waiting for reading about you losing your virginity on a certain aircraft type.
Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Hopefully we can soon follow your further travels.
Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
Eagerly looking forward to the next set.

I will do my best.

717Flyer, D.:

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
I understand she had a point but the way she let you know, specially when she learned you had a seat upstairs, that is not very nice.
Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
It's unbeleivable (in a bad way) that they would talk to a passenger that way. Even if this is their policy, there has to be a better/more professional way to inform you. And you were in Buss Class too!

She had a point, but I wish she could have been friendlier.

Win, Nils:

Quoting win1290 (Reply 45):
On board looks very nice too, and great offering of food and drinks.
Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
What a wonderful experience you had on CX.

So true!

Gabriel, Anosh:

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Looks tasty!
Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
The muffins looks mouth watering.

It was.

Atthaphon:

Quoting nethkt (Reply 43):
don't forget to let me know if you are planing to be around in Phuket!!

I will not.

717Flyer:

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
And I really like the way you address the crew by name and call them your friends

I really appreciated their efforts. I hope I could give them better recognition this way.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
I am sure their jobs would be much more enjoyable if all passengers would be like you.

Or like you.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Do pass on my congratulations to you sister-in-law!

Thank you. I will pass it on to Valerie.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
(even though I am sure it would have been a tempting trip otherwise as well).

You know me too well.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
But Suryo, how could you? And most of all, did not Ariel let you know anything about your decision to leave out Emirates this time?

Well, he got distracted too.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
it looks like Cathay did the job as well. But I guess Emirates will always be Emirates?

Cathay and Emirates are different, but I like both of them in their own way.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Hmm, these really are some good fares!

True!

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
And in the end I am sure you could come to the conclusion that people make Cathay. And people made your flight. Despite the certain red dragon. Or she was a part of your flight in her own way.

This is how I know you, 717Flyer. So sensible.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Hmm, were you trying to mislead us by showing the economy class birthday offers earlier? Or did you want to surprise us who kept reading on?

You got me.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Just like I learned some weeks ago that Marc is booked on the same BER-BRU flight after the Berlin meeting.

Oh really? I did not know that either. How nice!

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Yes - and I can't wait to do so!

Let’s go then!

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
they are so clean and informative!

Really? Then I have got to appreciate the screens even more.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Apparently the people of Cathay include ground staff as well.

Is it not great?

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Oh, you would definitely have deserved them!

Alright then, If you say so.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
Or visit a website called Airliners.net?

A good one! Why did it not come across my mind?

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
I can't wait for my first 747 flight in June this year. Even though it will be in economy class I am sure it will be a memorable experience.

You will love the Queen of the Skies. I look forward to reading your experience.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
This is a familiar feeling.

Oh yes.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
You should have said "Well, if I need permission, can I ask for it now?".

My 717Flyer, so inventive and yet respectful. Yes, I will keep this expression in mind for the next occasion.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
I would immediately have opened the curtain again to get things on track, but then again I guess that is easier said than done.

I was just perplexed.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
But yes, definitely not a very nice encounter.

It was just a bad dream.

Quoting 717Flyer (Reply 44):
My friend Suryo, may I congratulate you for making such a great choice!

Sure! I was inspired by you!

Win:

Quoting win1290 (Reply 45):
I think CX ground team in AMS was particularly nice, seems like a very good first impression of the airline.

Steve and Joy are undoubtedly great CX ambassadors in AMS.

Quoting win1290 (Reply 45):
Haven't been on CX myself, but I am waitlisting on a flight from BKK to LHR via HKG in 10 days. After reading this, I really hope I could get a confirmed reservation!

I hope you will be flying CX by then.

Martijn:

Quoting CrimsonNL (Reply 46):
I have to say the CX gate area at AMS, at G7 I believe, is definitely the nicest in the entire airport.

I believe you.

Sahib Nils:

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
It reminds me very much of my own CX flight from AMS to HKG/SGN in 2007 (on our honeymoon that was), albeit that was not on a B744 but on a A343 (lucky me!).

It must have been a perfect honeymoon trip.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
So does this plane really come from Paris or am I missing something here?

Yes, her routing was HKG-AMS-CDG-AMS-HKG. Unfortunately without fifth freedom rights on AMS-CDG-AMS segment.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
Very nice FA's and idem dito food.

Delicious food served by Nimi, Yuko and Natsuko under Joy’s supervision. What else could you ask for?

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
Ha ha this made me chuckle

I could not help it.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
Oh my, half an hour to xheck 2 people in. They didn't check you in for the whole iti, no? Or only the CX or OW legs?

Only CX . I will tell you why in the following installment.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
And showering and meditating maybe?

Sure, working out would have been great too.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
The lucky one. That was also my departure gate back then

Nils, I have been at your gate in FRA last year and in AMS last month. It is time for a real meet-up at the gate.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
I beg to differ, I'm not a big fan of CX's livery, nor of their colour scheme. But hey, opinions may vary, no

Sure and I fully respect that.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 47):
How nice, I believe that FA is a true gem and a very good ambassador of the company she works for!

Joy definitely makes Cathay. Twenty five years by now and still going strong!

Gabriel:

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Shame you weren't greeted with: "Hello, are you flying CX this afternoon? Great, are you in F, C or Y?" Assuming premium pax are in Y is very annoying

Herman and I just loved to surprise people.

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Haha

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Good that you had some experienced crew

Absolutely. Especially when they told me the nicest stories of their earlier years.

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
It's good for C, but such a step down from SQ

Judging on your SQ trip reports, I think you make a point.

Quoting gabrielchew (Reply 48):
Shame you couldn't have a look around, but I guess what she said is true, at least in part.

I was fine with her reference to the comfort of other passengers, but I was not really convinced about the other part.

Anosh:

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
After all these years of flying through AMS, I have never been inside anything other than the KL Lounge.

How about flying EK to AMS next time?

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
One of my favorite airport views. Did I mention how much I love AMS?

Oh yes. Anosh, KLM and AMS. The trinity!

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
One of my favorite in flight drinks of all time, this and the Singapore Sling!

The SQ’s Singapore Sling I assume? You and I are just the same.

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
You would be so mad at me, I have done at least 12 Business class flights in the last four weeks and I skipped the cheese every time!

Have you been on diet?

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
If it were me,I would skip the cheese and save room for that!

I just had to take both of them!

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
Thats the CX crew I know and adore. There is a reason they are my all time favorite airline.

I am glad to find out myself.

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
It sure it. Was just there last week and can't wait to go back. Its my retreat.

We just spent a couple of hours in Hong Kong last time. Our next visit would definitely be much longer.

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
Now its time for me to inspire you to fly something else, how about good old KLM? I missing them quite a bit as of late.

As the matter of fact, guess which airline I will be flying to Berlin next June?

Quoting SR 103 (Reply 49):
All I fly now is Lufthansa and its so boring, I need some blue!

Poor Anosh!

D.:

Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
Especially as that carrier is still on my "to be flown" list. Would be nice to do it in business class, as you were able to.
Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
I need to try them myself also sometime.

I genuinely encourage you to do it.

Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
Definitely that is the way to do it, always nice to meet up with friends like that.

It sure was a memorable farewell party.

Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
Looks really nice. A good "pre lounge" drink.

With a great companion of Eric and Robert.

Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 50):
The colors and style must have prepared you well for the flight to come.

Absolutely!

Dear friends, thanks again for encouraging me. You are the best

Warmest regards,
Suryo

I just write down as many key words as I can remember immediately after each conversation.

Interesting, thanks!

Quoting akhmad (Reply 25):
Oh wow, they were good old times indeed. I wish the 9-11 had never happened.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 25):

Of course.

Hi Suryo!

Another magnificent tripreport. It was a really enjoyable Saturday read.
Seems like you had an overall good experience with CX, it's an airline that I'd love to fly one day.

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
Do you notice the little girl on the earlier picture? She and her sister got each a little present from Joy as they were behaving while Joy checked in their dad, the bald guy in white sweater. How about that?

Seems like your first impression with CX was a really good one. The same can likely be said about those girls.

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):

What do you think of the window view?

Can't get much better than that.

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
Salt and pepper container

Wow, I really like those!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
%u201CCan I help you?%u201D
%u201CI just want to go backwards for a walk,%u201D
%u201CIf you want to take pictures of the cabin, you will have to ask permission first! Where is your seat?%u201D
%u201CEighty seven K. Upstairs,%u201D
%u201CYou cannot go through as you will disturb the comfort of other passengers!%u201D

I was flabbergasted as the curtain got abruptly closed again.

I can see why you chose to cover this up as a bad dream. Not a fun experience.

I'm really looking forward to reading the next part.

Goedemorgen Suryo

Great trip report, I really like the detail put into this report. it was like flying the flight to HKG on B-HOS as well.
As usual, no bad words to day about this trip report. However, the main meal looks rather small for a Business class product IMO.

Greetings

Suryo,

Fantastic TR my friend   As always your TRs are so stimulated, and i can feel the excitement spilling out of the monitor   Like a journey into a candy store, where there is always a sweet surprise in the TR   Many thanks for keeping the happiness in your reports!

I was of course waiting to read all about your CX experience, with great anticipation. And i think you got a typical CX flight which is good. In terms on inflight service, CX's formula is very simple: Indian + Filipino senior crew = The absolute best of CX usually. These nationalities tend to be the more senior of crews and hence, they know the airline, its requirements, and its customers really well.

I am however noticing a slight decline in the quality of the food in their Business Class. Portions seem to be getting smaller and smaller. I am also surprised at how firm the crew was with your taking pictures on the main deck. For sure the comfort of other passengers is of utmost importance, but from my experience i have not been faced with such an issue on Cathay before.

I guess we will have to see what happens next in your following episode   .. By the way, what happened to Ariel? You seemed to have left her behind on board! Did she not deplane with you at HKG?

Thank you once again for sharing this with us, and looking forward to the next!

Cheers,
Roni

Suryo, excellent TR as always .... superb .... apologies it took sometime to acknowledge your TR.

It is indeed good to see CX performing well from start till end, which is what I like about them. They may falter here and there but a good holistic experience is almost certain always.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 4):
It was a good thing as I could indulge in my excitement of marking my first footprint in Hong Kong, another spotter’s heaven on earth!

It certainly is!

Thanks for sharing your TR,

Hello Suryo!

Thanks for another amazing story of yours! Good reading and nice pictures as always! CX looks nice with good crews and service even if I can agree with some others that the meals dosn´t looks that good but the taste is the most important thing!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
Especially when I took charge

But I guess you always take charge when it comes to flight-booking?
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
pre-select your seat as a part of many online services?

Great. I always like when airlines have this feature

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
He did not post his report

But I will come eventually! I took a picture on your flight on take off roll which I will include  Pity it didn´t come out that good though
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
have a better idea. I will just print you another one,”

Very nice service!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
uneasy as Robert was already waiting nearby, basically for that half an hour. Thank you for your patience,

Oh, it wasn´t that long since I was checking in my bag at the KLM terminal when I arrived at the airport and then walk over to your terminal

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
thanks again for the sweet, but short meeting

Indeed it was very nice but as you say, too short!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
tidy up the desk for my photo session.

Ha ha!

Nice to see some pictures from the BA lounge. Eric and I was there two days before
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
I found a message from Eric later on that I should look out of the window as soon as I got into the lounge. He would have been on the other side waving to me

We started to wonder were you were, stuck at security maybe? He he
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
Korean Air HL7733 in Skyteam livery

A really beautiful livery!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
It looks like our plane has arrived on time from Paris

Oh, so your flight flies CDG-AMS-HKG?

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
What do you think of the window view?

Great, I like CX´s livery!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
were inside the air bridge

These air bridges you have in AMS are really cool. Must be a special experience to board over the wing!

Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
‘Dance? Yes

Not "Chinese Gold" ?:D

Quoting akhmad (Reply 3):
voiced female red phantom immediately blocked my way

Sorry to hear about this. Thankfully she wasn´t serving your cabin!

Quoting akhmad (Reply 3):
or peach smoothie

Nice with a smoothie. Never heard that a airline served that before but maybe it´s common?

Quoting akhmad (Reply 3):
Cheese and egg soufflé with Hollandaise sauce, veal sausage, back bacon, tomato and sautéed mushrooms

Looks really good. That would have been my choice

Thanks again for the great story. Looking forward for the continuation. And it was very nice to meet you at AMS! Hope to see you again soon!

Greetings
Robert

In terms on inflight service, CX's formula is very simple: Indian + Filipino senior crew = The absolute best of CX usually. These nationalities tend to be the more senior of crews and hence, they know the airline, its requirements, and its customers really well.

I am happy to know that. I was curious about your opinion as you being a well-experienced CX traveler.

Quoting ronerone (Reply 55):
I am also surprised at how firm the crew was with your taking pictures on the main deck. For sure the comfort of other passengers is of utmost importance, but from my experience i have not been faced with such an issue on Cathay before.

As you did not have any issue about this, I was somewhat unprepared for such firm reaction. She had a point, but I wish she could have told me the friendlier way.

Quoting ronerone (Reply 55):
By the way, what happened to Ariel? You seemed to have left her behind on board! Did she not deplane with you at HKG?

Ariel was alright, just shocked a bit. That is why he remained silence until we deplaned.

Ojas:

Quoting ojas (Reply 56):
apologies it took sometime to acknowledge your TR.

No worries. I am very happy to hear from you again.

Quoting ojas (Reply 56):
It is indeed good to see CX performing well from start till end, which is what I like about them. They may falter here and there but a good holistic experience is almost certain always.

You are absolutely right. I did not know you were an experienced CX traveler as well. How nice!

Quoting ojas (Reply 56):
It certainly is!

Robert:

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
but the taste is the most important thing!

You are just like me.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
But I guess you always take charge when it comes to flight-booking?

As an A.netter becomes.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Great. I always like when airlines have this feature

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
But I will come eventually!

I am looking forward to it.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
I took a picture on your flight on take off roll which I will include

That would be great. Thanks!

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
it didn´t come out that good though

Do not underestimate yourself.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Very nice service!

Steve was just great!

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Oh, it wasn´t that long since I was checking in my bag at the KLM terminal when I arrived at the airport and then walk over to your terminal

Good to know. Otherwise, I would have felt even more uneasy.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Ha ha!

Nice to see some pictures from the BA lounge. Eric and I was there two days before

I know. The lounge became popular among us.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
We started to wonder were you were, stuck at security maybe? He he

I will not be neglecting you again. I promise!

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
A really beautiful livery!

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Oh, so your flight flies CDG-AMS-HKG?

Correct.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Great, I like CX´s livery!

One of the most beautiful liveries around.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
These air bridges you have in AMS are really cool. Must be a special experience to board over the wing!

My one and only experience dated back from 1991. It was indeed special when I deplaned over the wing.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Not "Chinese Gold" ?:D

I will leave it to you.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Sorry to hear about this. Thankfully she wasn´t serving your cabin!

Indeed a cold comfort.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Nice with a smoothie. Never heard that a airline served that before but maybe it´s common?

I had a smoothie as well on board of Qatar.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Looks really good. That would have been my choice

It was lovely. Herman could not finish his, so I gladly volunteered to help him out.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
And it was very nice to meet you at AMS!

The pleasure was mine too.

Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Indeed it was very nice but as you say, too short!
Quoting Parton87 (Reply 57):
Hope to see you again soon!

How about making it up at BER?

My friends, you are wonderful! Many thanks for dropping by.

Warm regards,
Suryo

Hoi, Suryo,

that is a superb written story, well done.
I like you´re pictures and style, you know.
I´ve read it in the lounge at MAD last week but there was no time to comment, so finally done it now.

Together with best wishes from Markus (FLIEGER67) on my mobile, it became a memorable farewell party before holiday.

Hi Suryo.

What a fantastic start to your adventure. It was nice to see that J letter next to your booking.

Having never flown CX it was cool to see and read about your experience which looked very good indeed. Sure there is something so magical about the 747. What a way to travel.

I'm not so sure about the seating layout, but everything else looks top class. The food and drink selection had my mouth watering. I would love to try that smoothie for breakfast.

Great crew by the sounds (aside from the dragon in red on the main deck). Always good to have it this way.

Thanks for sharing the detail with us mate.
Cheers, Lee.

Hi Suryo,

Finally I managed to read a through this report of yours. Your stuff is always very hard code to read as you describe things in such an exhausting fashion with attention to the even tiniest bits of details, in true classic Suryo style.

Sure this report is no exception to that, very nice details and excellent observations of everything that was going on. Looks like an excellent ride on the upper deck of a classic CX 747, although sometimes I wonder have you ever actually been on a flight that wasn't just perfect and you didn't enjoy? Maybe that's just a matter of attitude - being a cynical bastard I've nowadays becoming more and more annoyed and disappointed by more and more flights whereas you always seem to find things just fine. The classic "half empty" vs. "half full" dilemma I guess.

Anyway great stuff, very much looking forward to more adventures on your way Down Under, although it might be a while before I've regathered the energy to read them...

Thanks Suryo for a fantastic report with some great pictures. I wish I could take photos like you! CX seems to hold its own -- though as my recent experiences can relate to, the crew is NOT consistent. Personally, I really do wish they went back to hiring to represent the diversity of Asia. Thanks again.

Saludos,
A.

Greetings Suryo.

Apologies for taking such a long time to reply to your TR(s). It's pretty tiring to be in the army at times and sometimes you just don't feel like typing..  .

It's pretty nice to see a fellow countrymen in your current country or sometimes even while travelling. Brings some sort of closeness, isn't it? Was the priority lane in AMS strictly adhered to? When I was in DXB anyone could go into the premium lane which was pretty much useless.

CX's AVOD system looks pretty impressive. I guess it makes a long flight shorter. The Cloud Nine cocktail looks wonderful. I especially love the sugar layer on the rim. Wonder did the sugar help to improve the taste of the drink for you?

The salt and pepper containers are simply cute and I'd be so tempted to liberate them! CX serves their main dish on a casserole dish? I'd have expected a plate or something seeing it's long haul and a premium airline. Looks very Economy-ish if you ask me. The muesli looks pretty interesting. Is it something like cereals?

The egg and cheese souffle was what caught my eye on the menu (also what I'd order if I were on the flight). Hope it tasted good!

Regards,
Daniel

Absolutely. There is just something magical of traveling on the upper deck.

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 62):

I must have had such flight, but somehow I tend to recall nicer moments of it.

I recall your disappointing FCL flight. But did you fly CX again recently?

Quoting abrelosojos (Reply 63):
Personally, I really do wish they went back to hiring to represent the diversity of Asia.

I thought CX was still hiring flight attendants from outside Hong Kong. Am I missing something?

Absolutely. It makes a trip even more momerable.

Quoting initious (Reply 64):
Was the priority lane in AMS strictly adhered to? When I was in DXB anyone could go into the premium lane which was pretty much useless.

I am not sure about it. The guy in front us was holding an Economy boarding pass, but you could not judge him on that as he might be a premium member.

Quoting initious (Reply 64):
CX's AVOD system looks pretty impressive. I guess it makes a long flight shorter.

Definitely, especially the extensive audio collection. I just loved it.

Quoting initious (Reply 64):

It tasted wonderful and the sugar saw to sweet crunchy sensation.

Who would not be?

Quoting initious (Reply 64):

Well, you are not the only one who would like to see better main meal presentation.

Quoting initious (Reply 64):
The muesli looks pretty interesting. Is it something like cereals?

Yes, it is apparently typical Swiss as PH and Hannah said earlier.

Quoting initious (Reply 64):
The egg and cheese souffle was what caught my eye on the menu (also what I'd order if I were on the flight). Hope it tasted good!

It was lovely! I did not regret helping Herman out as he could not finish his.

Hey! So I am totally tardy to this party but I am so glad I got a chance to catch up on trip reports!

As always an awesome trip report and very cool that you got to fly CX!

Last time I flew through AMS there was a CX crew in the passport line right ahead of me....their uniforms look much better in person!

The pilots were very adamant about buying some cheese before the flight!

hi Suryo,

How are you doing? It seems you have been traveling and exploring new airlines...its always delightful to read a TR from you. CX seems like a nice solid product.

Food looks awesome but i think the main course could've had a better presentation, i guess its just my opinion.

Your TR's are jovial and you just have a knack of making them realistic.

The autograph from Joy was a nice touch, this is what sometimes sets one airline apart from another.

Keep em coming....

Mohit.

Hey

Excellent report!
Great to see your views and experience of the CX J product!
The upper deck is second only to working in the nose on our Jumbos for myself!
Being a Cascada fan i was pleased to see you 'bopping away' to Cascada    Especially in J its made my day!
The greatest hits album 'Back on the dancefloor' is out which i only discovered after reading your post and rekindling my love with the lady herself!

Hope to see more from you also i keep telling Markus to jump about a certain British branded airline soon so we can spot together at LHR common guys!
