After some good food, I was to travel back to San Francisco. I flew in UA's B747 product, which I think is quite good. I had an economy class ticket, which I had upgraded using a systemwide upgrade. It was pretty phenomenal. The entire trip report is here:

I first stop off at the SQ lounge in HKG since I am * Gold. They have some great food for us here:

I then head to the UA lounge, and my video shows a tour of the place there. I then head to the gate to do some plane spotting. HKG has some pretty amazing planes, ones that we don't see in the states. It's always amazing to see the different kinds of livery that planes have. HKG is a very modern airport.

I then get on board on the lower deck. I like the lower deck when traveling alone because it's easier to get out over the aisle passenger since the headroom and legroom is much better. The upper deck is a nicer cabin, but it's very difficult to get out of unless your traveling partner is someone you know:

After take off, I have some red wine and I start with the warm nut service. UA went all cashews for a while, then they went back to mixed nuts.

I then start with the salad and the salmon appetizer. Both were excellent:

I then have the duck breast for my entree. It was just okay. Not terribly good. The texture was rubbery. But this wasn't just on UA; it was also like this on my SQ business class flight a few years ago. Maybe duck just isn't meant to be served in the air or it's supposed to be eaten fresh.

I finish with the cheese course at the end. I'm so stuffed that I cannot have dessert. There is so much food. The warm nuts really fill you up. The cheese on UA are excellent, but the problem is that they really need to give you more crackers. There is too much cheese, and not enough crackers. I suppose this is good if you're on a low-carb diet, though.

After a nice nap, I wake up in time for breakfast. Although there are 3 options listed on the menu, they only offer me one: cornflakes. I guess it's that or nothing. So I eat the cornflakes. They pretty much are what you'd expect: cornflakes are about as boring as any cereal could possibly be.
