Service UG 008 operated by Tunisair Express
Scheduled: 15.15 // 16.15

Well, a thousand of people around as soon as you leave the secured area of the terminal.
Despite the flights are on one confirmation, it was not possible to Check-In for these onward service from Tunis at the origin Marseille.
Flugladen.de provided the ticket details, the fare is 70.00 Euro´s.
Don´t talk about OLCI!.
The airport is divided in an larger international part and a very small domestic compartment, after a couple of narrow walkways along airport administration and more things like this, till you see a door
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301086_zps2528c7a0.jpg
And also this screens
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301083_zps5463526c.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301084_zps6ebd6045.jpg
A really small counter with a group of pax in a discussion about weight limits, so it seems, with the agent at work.
Yes, this is the Check-In counter also for my flight without a sign to notice but what works finally within a minute or so.
The aforementioned door opened, all cabin bags are screened, no security check to go.
No lounge here, but the officer like to see a departure card also for this domestic service, strange.
Good thing I have a completed one, just for the case!.
A bus is waiting at gate 1 and so one more free airport tour is on offer now
to see, or not like to see, things like this!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301088_zpsbb2ce19e.jpg
The AT72 is on schedule now and so it looks like
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301089_zps5b48c4d1.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301090_zpscbc56324.jpg
This is TS-LBD also known as "Hasdrubal".
Leg no. 26 on type and easy to check, new to the log
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301092_zpsedad9396.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301094_zps17749115.jpg
06.07.2007 is noticed as the first flight for Sevenair, later rebranded as Tunisair Express.
Three planes on type are in the fleet.
Here is an actual "Hasdrubal" story:
http://avherald.com/h?article=4681089a&opt=0
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301095_zps4beb15da.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301096_zps1f43d06a.jpg
Well, boarding now, welcomed by strange red leather seats
and the safety card for all ATR´s
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301097_zpsed48f061.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301098_zps1c722472.jpg
3.45 pm, what is 30 minutes late without any further information,
"Tunexpress" is ready now to leave the "Aéroport International de Tunis-Carthage
"مطار تونس قرطاج الدولي" from the 3200 meters asphalt called "Zero-One".
25 degrees and a few clouds only, nice.
All announcements in Tunisian and French only, no english to notice.
Cockpit crew is from Tunisia. "Le Pilote" with a short and nice welcome on the taxiway. No route or flightlevel info.
The seats are well used to say the least and the cabin, too.
Legroom is ok, but the windows are dirty and heavily scratched
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301099_zpsfc5319d5.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301100_zps3b202261.jpg
Cabin crew is one middle aged woman, slim, red hair, freckles, expect something like this in Ireland, but definitely not in Tunisia, really nice by the way.
Well, if the studios are looking for fresh faces, go for a view to Tunisia!.
There is a young woman also on duty, smiling, cute, large, short brown hair and yes, supernice!.
Service is water, coffee, tea.
The load is very close to 100%, biz, vfr, no other westerner beside me to notice.
14F is me, the aisle is taken by an elder official looking woman,
greeted with remarkable respect by the FA´s.
On the way above some salty lakes
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301101_zps741ea33b.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301102_zpsc5b2a7e8.jpg
And finally the med to go for my island
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301103_zps4a0cc258.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301107_zpsa4d45571.jpg
The "Aéroport international de Djerba-Zarzis
مطار جربة جرجيس الدولي"
welcomed me at the 3220 meters asphalt "Zero-Nine", 4.50 pm, 35 minutes late. 26 degrees and no cloud to notice at all, yes, that´s what I like
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301108_zps5864fe51.jpg
Originally fixed is the Yadis Imperial Beach and Spa Resort,
a new built property, so new that there is a mail in the box some four weeks prior to the trip, that the hotel is not yet ready around my date.
Well, the Riu Palace Royal Garden is offered and what should you do?. Accepted!.
It´s a bit of a distance from the airport, public transport is not the thing to do here and taxis are ok, but also not that cheap on these touristic services.
Therefore Resorthoppa closes the gap.
11.00 Euro´s return and not by bus with calls at 100 hotels, no, by a private taxicab with no one else on board beside me.
The young driver was surprised to see me that early short after the planes arrival.
Well, no bag to catch, isn´t it?.
He play´s such a relaxed type of Tunisian tunes on the way, for sure a nice welcome to the island of Djerba.
And he goes also the fast way, not that long thereafter at the hotel,
where a large suite is waiting for me
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301112_zpsda327ac0.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301111_zpsb2a221fe.jpg
Clean and well maintained
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301109_zpsf05313c3.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301110_zps99bb0ebb.jpg
Just for a little walkaround till it´s time for dinner. Where one of the nice cooks decided to prepare something special individually for me after we talked about my preffered things to eat. "Bric a pomme de terre", what means dumblings with potatoes and fresh herbs, yes I like it, but no pictures with the camera not at hand, never ever again and an somewhat not to early night later on

Welcome to departure airport no. 251,
"Aéroport international de Djerba-Zarzis

and this is a really large place, good to serve two or three more flights beside the actual examples

No OLCI, sure we know, but also no time to wait at the desk till a young woman provided me with the necessary boarding paper.
The usual question for the last row window produced 28F. Well, after my experience yesterday this is now definitely also not the scheduled equipment, the originally 736 today.
This ticket is fixed via Flugladen.de as a one way service, the fare 115.00 Euro´s.
Just for a couple of more pictures around this place

Just to let you know, under the wing is also possible in Tunisia!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301169_zpsde00a350.jpg
Finally boarding and not the real pleasure to say the least.
The load is very close to 100%, vacationeers on the way.
I´am the last one in, as usual and there are two well built, not in a positive way, elder ladies in the last row, going comfortable also with my seat and it seems they are happy to have the last row for themselve, till I´am ending the happiness abruptly.
I´am on chat with the middle aged male FA at the planes door during the touristic style slow boarding procedure.
Why not ask about an exit row seat?.
He´s going to check it.
Back again, the pilots like to go but there is an exit aisle open for me, I should take my original last row seat and go to change after the seatbelt sign is off
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301170_zps12c68b9f.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301171_zps61a3927d.jpg
Leaving Tunisia from runway "Zero-Nine" like arrivals yesterday, 1.35 pm,
perfectly ontime by "Tunair".
Just a few clouds in the distance and 26 degrees, how nice.
2.20 hours to go with a short and nice welcome from the chief upfront at the runway entrance. Routing is via Sardinia, no flightlevel info and we expect some rough air for the first ten minutes or so of the flight
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301172_zps5775abe9.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301173_zps3b552100.jpg
The cabin fitted with bright blue leather seats is clean so far.
Wide open north african scenery
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301174_zps01e7ac84.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301175_zpsc81c4263.jpg
Cabin crew beside the aforementioned nice male FA is a young and cute woman, long black hair, ponytail, really nice.
One middle aged also nice woman and one elder, ok style woman together with an middle aged ok male FA.
Above the city of Houmt Souk and out for the med
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301176_zps59069780.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301177_zpsb248b0d7.jpg
Well, the nice FA guided me to the exit row short thereafter where an elder couple is in the window and the middle seat and let me say, they are not happy with the change, started a discussion till the FA shows them who the boss is on the plane and so I have the exit aisle for me right now.
With the not welcoming company in the exit row I spend most of the flight in the rear galley invited by the nice FA, there is stuff enough to talk about, pax like this, the job, the airlines, life in Tunisia and so on. We also have some non standard pax food together.
Really nice and personal service here.
A full tray again also on this flight
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301178_zpsb13ef9f6.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301179_zps39900c1f.jpg
Ok so far beside the meat and a view for the safety card
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301180_zps810c4b12.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301181_zps86eda3f4.jpg
Legroom is good here in the exit row, 11D in the end
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301182_zpsc4073dbf.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301183_zpsd09b2393.jpg
Cabin view
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301184_zps9e9ba3fe.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301185_zpsd9dcee05.jpg
Say hello to "Flughafen Zürich" and the 3300 meters runway "One-Four" now.
Perfectly ontime and imagine the "Ouch" from several people around when the FA told us something about 13 degrees and rain.
Back in spring middle European style!.
But anyway a supernice welcome by these young woman with a special relationship to ZRH airport makes up for any weather difficulties!.
And with these company, a cup of tea, a piece of cake and the right glasses
you don´t notice any rain or something like this anymore!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/TXL06/TN1301186_zps8e692129.jpg
Some time now to spend in these nice small city called Baden, thanx H.,
with local advice till the train is heading for BSL, where there is some precious freight to pick up and the car is eagerly waiting, hopefully, for the nightly run through the black forest!.

Just a couple of days now till the next trip,
not in any case affected by a strike "A la francaise", no way!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302003_zps468ab52e.jpg

But wait, the conclusions:

1.)Tunisair Express TUN-DJE: A special ride down the south.
2.)Tunisair DJE-ZRH: Supernice crew on this service.

Elaleqa,
more to come, if nothing turns wrong, as usual!.

Hello Markus,

Nice second part of your trip to Tunisia. What a great idea to fly down to Djerba on the ATR, although it doesn't look in all too great condition.
Hotel at Djerba looks absolutely great, wouldn't mind spending a couple days there.
Return flight to ZRH also looks pretty nice , great to hear about the friendly FA!

Looking forward to more!

cheers,

Brendan

Nice continuation of the Tunis story Markus. How cool to fly a Tunisian domestic flight! And okay service on the leg to ZRH, good to see that they serve a full meal there. Thanks for sharing, as always!

Hi Markus

Tunisair look good, nice to know. And it's pretty cool to get a Tunisian domestic flight, I can't imagine that there are many reports of those on here!

One question, what was the beach like in Djerba? You hotel looks lovely, but the beach appears to be quite gritty from your pictures. Was it?

Hi Markus !

Nice report with nice pictures !

TU doesn't look great at all; dull colors and food doesn't look good either.

Tunisia looks great though! I love the architecture and the colors of the dry land and the contrast with the blue water.

Very much looking forward to your next report!

I´am the last one in, as usual and there are two well built, not in a positive way, elder ladies in the last row, going comfortable also with my seat and it seems they are happy to have the last row for themselve, till I´am ending the happiness abruptly.

What I like about your reports...little gems like this. Oops, not too politically correct? Who cares. It's funny!

I'm not one to enjoy weather above 20 C, but may put up with it if I can see a camel walking past when I'm out for a stroll...the only animals that would walk past me here are fat raccoons and skinny coyotes. Not quite the same.

Good point with the beach, so it was. Ok for a walk, but most people spend the time at the pool and not at the beach.

Hi Markus,

Good to read part 2 of your Tunisian adventure.

TU is a mixed bag, that ATR appears even older than SkyTaxiPolska’s Saab. Comfort & service on the A320 seems much better: geared up to the package holiday guests?

You know I’m not a fan of these big hotel complexes, but the Riu Palace looks super, especially the spacious grounds and nice room.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Therefore Resorthoppa closes the gap.
11.00 Euro´s return and not by bus with calls at 100 hotels, no, by a private taxicab with no one else on board beside me

An excellent deal for 11Euros.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
"Bric a pomme de terre", what means dumblings with potatoes and fresh herbs, yes I like it, but no pictures with the camera not at hand, never ever again and an somewhat not to early night later on

I’m guessing the “bric” tasted as heavy as a “brick”?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
´am the last one in, as usual and there are two well built, not in a positive way, elder ladies in the last row, going comfortable also with my seat and it seems they are happy to have the last row for themselve, till I´am ending the happiness abruptly.

I quite enjoy such moments!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, the nice FA guided me to the exit row short thereafter where an elder couple is in the window and the middle seat and let me say, they are not happy with the change, started a discussion till the FA shows them who the boss is on the plane and so I have the exit aisle for me right now.

Always these discussions! They didn’t have to change seats so why should they mind?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
And with these company, a cup of tea, a piece of cake and the right glasses you don´t notice any rain or something like this anymore!

Rain? No, never noticed any rain   Must have been the tea, cake & company!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Just a couple of days now till the next trip,
not in any case affected by a strike "A la francaise", no way!

Strikes in France? You forgot the irony out button!

By the way, did you notice the DJE-CFE flight? Maybe that’s the way to combine it!

Happy flying

Hello FLIEGER67,

Another North African adventure to follow, really good! Apart from the nice, dry scenery outside, TU did not impress too much, especially that ATR has seen better days apparently! Good to read that the crew on the ZRH flight was really accomodating

An hour or many hours, days,...!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Not that I´ve even noticed it before, but this is an anniversary not yet happened in my log till now, leg no. 100 on type!

Congrats and another milestone set!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Just to let you know, under the wing is also possible in Tunisia!

‘Good to know’

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
But anyway a supernice welcome by these young woman with a special relationship to ZRH airport makes up for any weather difficulties!

This woman seems to be on duty all of the time
