Here are the latest news with the visited countries map:

VISITED COUNTRIES auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Good morning from the "Super 8 Edmonton International Airport Leduc", where breakfast is prepared for us.
And soon thereafter we are heading for the airport
by the free shuttle bus
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012585_zpsd0b73e6e.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012587_zps0eee2711.jpg
Well, I´am close to sure that we catched the right exit!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012588_zps2ab9bdd0.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012586_zps74ccfdf5.jpg
Check-In is done manually. Sure, that´s the common standard here these days for us.
Just a couple of minutes to wait and the bags are on the way for good old Europe!.
All three flights today/tonight/tomorrow are on one confirmation managed by CheapTickets.de.
And the fare per leg is 130.00 Euro´s.
Interesting again to feel how close the cooperation between Westjet and KLM works.
No boarding papers possible for the KL flights at Edmonton.
We should catch it at YUL. Well, we will do so. Seats are preselected anyway.
No time to wait at the security check, as every occasion here at Edmonton for us, well organized it is.
The flight looks like ok so far from gate 56
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012589_zpsa946ff28.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012590_zps4618f8e0.jpg
There is a 737-600 on schedule, not that often logged, so looking foward to.
And well, that fit´s!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012591_zpsc6e683ad.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012592_zps14089ad0.jpg
So we see here C-GWCQ, not to talk about an individual name at WestJet.
New to the log and leg no. 10 on type

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012596_zps71ddbfcf.jpg
No time to use a lounge here.
They called for boarding. Well, why not?

A warm welcome by WestJet.
Cockpit crew is from Canada.
The captain with a short greeting on the ground,
all crew is introduced by name, well done and once again later announcing descent

11.30 am, what is perfectly ontime by "WestJet".
20 sunny degrees and 3.30 hours to go now.
Leaving "Edmonton International Airport" from the 3109 meters runway "Three-Zero".
And the safety card is still there!.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012602_zps1221251e.jpg
We have a well loaded cabin this late morning cruising eastbound, very close to 100%. VFR travellers on the way.
20 A/C for us with B open, lucky us.
Dark grey leather seaters, oldfashioned, but clean so far and the legroom is ok
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012603_zps1e3a7980.jpg

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012608_zps669f0f61.jpg
Cabin crew is one male FA, middle aged and nice together with two elder women, really nice and motivated.
The advantage of the last row, well served by one of the two women.
Drinks for several times, snacks and cookies a plenty
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012609_zps105a2093.jpg

On finals for the 3353 meters "Two-Four-Right",
"Aéroport international Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau de Montréal"
5.15 pm, short ahead to schedule and 22 sunny degrees.
Yes, it is Montreal, where something like this should wait for us. Two engines, or four, or maybe three?

Visited Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Busy as it is usually around this time in the early morning we decided to stay in the Non-Schengen-Zone and lounge for some time now what is ok for the lounge ladies.
And it fits perfectly, close to no time to wait at passport check and security later on.
Till boarding from gate B18 for one more classic like this
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012672_zps195eb091.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012673_zpsce0af528.jpg

Leg no. 15 on the F70 and this was also my very first F70 years ago on a AMS-BRS service

In service since 16.02.1996 with Avianova and KLM CityHopper. 25 examples are in the fleet and there are a couple of stories to tell:

Cockpit crew is from the Netherlands.
The captain with a nice and detailed welcome during boarding.
Some minutes to wait for connecting pax stuck somewhere in the terminal not to talk about somewhere at the Duty Free!.
The FO is also on the mike inflight in a nice style.
We called for a shortcut to reduce the delay.
No route info, flightlevel is just 25000 feet.
There is a magazine on offer and also a safety card

Cabin crew is two women, one younger with a really nice welcome during boarding. Brown hair, large, slim, nice.
The other one, young also, large and slim seems somewhat new to the job.
Legroom is good here on the classic Fokker.
With the blue red well used and clean fabric seats

And the classic cabin with also, so it feels like, a classic
pensioner excursion on the way.
In the former times they are running by bus but these days they are invading the planes!.
Complaining about long queues and long ways to walk.
Well, there is always something to complain, isn´t it?.
We are close to 100% with a fully load of american retired couples heading for a Viking river cruise around Germany

Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg". 3900 meters and runway "One-Five", 2.25 pm, ten minutes late only and 19 cloudy degrees.
Finally also back where the car should be

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/CAP06/CDN13012691_zpse0976d31.jpg
And where the car not only should be. No, where it is waiting for the relaxed so far drive through the black forest till the homebase with one or two pictures on storage and lot´s of stories to tell, well you know!.

Someone for the conclusions?:

1.)WestJet YEG-YUL: Riding from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
2.)KLM YUL-AMS: A very short night above the pond.
3.)KLM CityHopper AMS-BSL: A cloudy welcome back in Europe.

And I´am sure, after this trip with lot´s of flights, there is a break well needed. With no more flights during the next time.
Really?.
No, not at all, I´am joking!.

There is a mission to accomplish and as far as I read, this is a very short term mission to fix it finally.

Hello Markus,

Good to see the grand finale of your small Canadian sidetrip. The main dish on the way home, in the form of a large blue triholer, looks really delicious. Too bad I will not be able anymore to have a taste as well

A nice end to the canadian adventure.

Seems the older aircraft are a bit more comfortable with a bit more legroom.

Like me, you have seen lots, but done a lot of flying.

What a coincidence! WXA was also my first ride on an F-70, and also on a run from AMS to BRS!
Nice photos. Thank you for bothering to take pics of the meals.

Lovely set of pictures Markus.. Also nice you got to go on two of the KLM aircraft before they retire the type.. I do miss KLM.. If only they could have somehow made their LPL-AMS routing work.. Too close to MAN I guess... Thank you Markus..

Hi Markus,

Good to read the final part of your Canadian holiday, which was certainly an unforgettable trip. Congrats on another MD-11 flight, something I’ll sadly never do. KL looked after you well on the journey home.

Great to see the Concorde model there, a nice piece of nostalgia.

39AB, well worth the 15 Euro´s extra per seat.

Seems a good deal to secure those seats on the overnight flight.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Legroom is good here on the classic Fokker

That’s exactly what I thought after my last flight on the F70 a couple of weeks ago. Far better than what I’m usually used to.

Complaining about long queues and long ways to walk.
Well, there is always something to complain, isn´t it?.

Well, one could always stay at home: no queues and no long distances to walk!

We are close to 100% with a fully load of american retired couples heading for a Viking river cruise around Germany

Know them well. A lot of the groups fly into ZRH. They need a lot of help

So, it’s KLM for me later today!

Happy flying

Hi Markus, good to read the final installment of your Canadian journey.

Interesting that the Super 8 serves a pretty much identical breakfast in all their hotels. Even north of the border.

Great that you got to catch two retro birds on the final sectors. Still hoping to do the MD11 to Montreal, but time seems to be against me on that... Still, you never know!

A grim realisation I have after reading this: I'll probably never fly another tri-jet in my life ever again. My very first time flying on a widebody plane as a child was a DC-10 (well we all know where that one went). By the time I finally get myself across the pond to see family in France...next year...next few years...if ever...I bet I'll be getting a 777.

Meanwhile, there's always your trip reports to read for variety.

Off to Ukraine, I see...

Hi Markus !

Thanks for another great report with great pictures !

Nice to see you get another flight with the 736 ! Service seems good for North America!

Very good for you to have one more flight on the MD-11. Now you have one more flight than me on that type....

KLM looks okay again but their service is not impressive.

Very much looking forward to your next report !

Hello Markus,

What a great way to end this fantastic trip by flying the beautiful KLM MD-11 back across the pond!
Looks like you had a bunch of nice flights back to STR. I've tried Westjet out myself before and completely agree with you, they are very nice.
KLM also looks good like usual. Hoping to catch the MD-11 one more time before it leaves myself!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The flight looks like ok so far from gate 56

That's a lot of flights to Calgary!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
This one looks like also nice

What a great livery!

Thanks for putting all these reports up on your Canad trip, enjoyed every one of them!

cheers,
